Established in 1982 amid China’s Reform and Opening period, the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra upholds its artistic ethos of pursuing excellence, serving the public, and advancing through dual commitments to performance and creation. Through four decades of dedicated development, SZSO has widely recognized amongst China’s preeminent professional orchestras. The orchestra performs under the baton of Music Director Daye Lin, winner of the top prize at the 6th Sir Georg Solti International Conductors’ Competition. Since 1987, SZSO has maintained regular concert tours throughout China and internationally, with performances spanning Asia, Europe, North America and Africa, establishing itself as Shenzhen’s flagship cultural showcase. SZSO has graced at major festivals including China National Arts Festival, China International Piano Competition , National Centre for the Performing Arts Festival, Istanbul Music Festival, Mittelfest, Ravello Wagner Festival, Caserta Benevento Festival, Bellini Festival Sicily , Dinard Music Festival, and Romanian International Radio Music Festival. SZSO continues to scale artistic heights whilst promoting Chinese cultural heritage and contemporary expression, making significant contributions to Shenzhen’s cultural landscape within the Greater Bay Area initiative.
