The Cascais Opera – International Vocal Competition was created in 2024 with the mission of supporting young vocal talent and placing Cascais and Portugal on the international opera map. Although young, the competition rapidly established itself as a high-level artistic initiative, bringing together emerging singers from around the world with leading figures of the opera, including casting directors, artistic directors, conductors, singers and international media. The first edition (2024) held its Final at the São Carlos National Theater, the historic opera house in Lisbon. The second edition (2025) and the upcoming third edition (2026) take place in Lisbon, at the Grand Auditorium of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, one of the most prestigious concert halls in Portugal.
