EVA MARTON INTERNATIONAL SINGING COMPETITION Budapest, Hungary

WFIMC Member since 2019

Founded in 2014 by the legendary dramatic soprano Éva Marton, the International Singing Competition embodies her lifelong dedication to the highest artistic standards. For Marton, teaching is a profound calling, and she brings the same passion to mentoring that defined her extraordinary career. She instills in her students, and thus the competitors, the importance of building a solid future on tradition, while actively expanding their musical knowledge. A unique feature is the compulsory performance of a Liszt song, promoting the heritage of the Academy’s founder. The event attracts over 100 applicants from five continents annually, with about 70 selected for the live rounds in Budapest. A world-renowned jury, including figures like Anatoli Goussev and Peter Katona, seeks artists with the potential for a significant career, mirroring Marton’s own legendary success. Held at the prestigious Liszt Academy, it has become an unmissable professional opportunity and a definitive door to the international opera scene.
