ensure that visiting this museum is dy- namic, fun and educational, regardless of how familiar you are with each cham- pionship. Why Zurich specifically? It might not be obvious at first glance why the city of Zurich in particular was chosen for this museum, but it makes sense given the context. That’s because FIFA’s main global operations centre and headquarters are also located in this city, and it thus comes as no surprise that the museum is situated close to the admin- istrative HQ, with infrastructure and ac- cess enabling the preservation and pres- entation of artefacts from around the world. This ensured Zurich was the nat- ural choice for this global “house of foot- ball history” — and a place to unify the game’s world archive. The location along- side Enge station and good public trans- port connections also make the museum easily accessible for both local visitors and tourists alike. This museum has also officially expand- ed its presence beyond Switzerland: in addition to the permanent exhibition in Zurich, the first salon-exhibition has also opened in Madrid and is dedicated to the history of the World Cup and the Wom- en’s World Cup — representing part of an international strategy to make the history of football accessible to people who aren’t able to easily visit Zurich.
