نفســـــه على نهجـــــه المســـــتقل القائم على فكرة “الفنّان أوّلاً”؟ يســـــتند عملنا إلى منحة تُقدّمها مؤسّســـــة ســـــلامة بنت حمدان آل نهيان، وهي منحة توفّر لنا الاســـــتقرار الـــــلاّزم للتّخطيط على المـــــدى الطّويل، مع إبقاء المـــــوارد موجّهة نحو الفنّانين. ومنـــــذ البداية، تمثّل تركيزنا في دعم الفنّانين الصّاعدين وبناء مساحة يمكنهـــــم فيها خـــــوض التّجـــــارب، واختبار الأفـــــكار، والنموّ. وهـــــذا التوجّه ينســـــجم بصورة طبيعيّة مع الرّؤية الثقافيّة الأوسع لدولة الإمارات، التي تولـــــي اهتمامًا كبيرًا لرعاية المواهب وتعزيز تبادل المعرفة. أمّا اســـــتقلاليّتنا فتنبع مـــــن طبيعة صناعة القـــــرار داخل المَجمَع؛ فالقـــــرارات المتعلّقة بالمعـــــارض والتّكليفـــــات والبرامـــــج تُتّخذ من قبل القيّمين والممارسين أنفسهم، عبر
ونحتفل أيضًا بالنّسخة الثّانية من مهرجان “بلوك بَارتي”، بنســـــخته الخاصّة بالذّكرى، والتي تحتفـــــي بالمجتمع والمدينة معًا من خـــــلال برنامج غنـــــي يضم عروضًـــــا حيّةً، وفعّاليات فنّيةً، ومتاجر إبداعيّة، ومحلاّت للطّعام والشّراب. وســـــنصدر أيضًا تقريرًا يُوضّـــــح الأثر الذي تركه مســـــار تطوّرنـــــا على مدى السّـــــنوات العشـــــر الماضيـــــة، ويُســـــلّط الضّـــــوء على هويّتنا اليوم، وكيف وصلنا إلى هنا، ولماذا نقوم بمـــــا نقوم بـــــه. وهـــــو أداة للتأمّل من جهـــــة، وطريقة للتّواصـــــل بوضوح أكبر مع مجتمعنـــــا من جهة أخـــــرى. إن قياس الأثر في مجال الفنون مهمّة معقّدةٌ، لكنّه مسعًى ضروريّ. لذلك يســـــتند هذا التّقرير بصورة كبيـــــرة إلى مقابـــــلات مع فنّانين وشـــــركاء وأصحـــــاب مصلحة، ليعكس طيفًا واســـــعًا من الأصوات. ونأمل أن يفتح بابًا لمزيد من
الحوار، وأن يتيـــــح لنا معرفة أصداء عملنا بشكل أعمق، لنواصل التعلّم والنموّ. ممارسٍ 1,500 كيف أســـــهم دعم أكثر من إبداعي عبـــــر الإقامـــــات الفنّيـــــة والمنح والتّكليفـــــات فـــــي تعميق فهمكـــــم لآليّات احتضان الأصوات الصّاعـــــدة؟ وإلى أي مدى تُعد الجرأة والتّجريب ركنًا أساسيًّا مـــــع الفنّانين 421 في منهج عمـــــل مَجمَع والطّاقات الثقافيّة؟ دعم الأصوات الناشـــــئة ليس خيارًا؛ بل هو عنصر أساســـــي لإحداث التّغيير. ورعايتها تعني توفير مســـــاحات حقيقيّة للتّجريب والحوار والمغامرة. فالنمو لا يســـــير بخط مســـــتقيمٍ، بل يقوم على تشـــــجيع التّفكير النقديّ، وإثـــــارة الفضول، ومنـــــح الفنّانين القـــــدرة علـــــى امتـــــلاك أفكارهـــــم وصقلها. ويتمثّل دورنا في تقديم الإرشاد والموارد
والوقت، ليتمكّن الفنّانون من استكشـــــاف أفكار جريئة ونقيّة، وتعزيز طريقة عملهم. أمّـــــا المخاطـــــرة والتّجريب فهما في صميم . فعلى سبيل المثال، يُشجّع 421 طريقة عمل برنامج التّطوير الفنّي الفنّانين على اختبار وسائط فنّية جديدة، أو العمل على مقاييس مختلفة، أو استكشاف اتّجاهات موضوعيّة جديدة. وينعكس هـــــذا المنهج أيضًا داخل فريـــــق العمل، حيث ندفع أنفســـــنا دومًا إلى تحويل الأفكار الجريئة إلى مشـــــاريع قابلة للتّنفيذ مؤسّســـــيًّا مـــــع الحفاظ على طابعها العملـــــيّ. وكثيرًا ما أقول للفنّانين: إن كان لا . 421 بد من الخطأ، فليكن هنا في بدعم من مؤسّســـــة 421 يحظـــــى مَجمَـــــع ســـــلامة بنت حمـــــدان آل نهيـــــان، فكيف تحرصون على مواءمة برامجه مع رسالة المؤسّســـــة والاســـــتراتيجيّات الثقافيّـــــة الوطنيّة الأوســـــع، والحفـــــاظ في الوقت
We ʹ re also celebrating with the second, birthday edition of Block Barty , our arts festival featuring pop‑up activa‑ tions, live performances, creative vendors, and local food and beverage concepts. It ʹ s a celebration of both our com‑ munity and the city itself. We will also be publishing an impact report that will cap‑ ture our evolution over the last decade: who we are now, how we got here, and why we do what we do. It’s both a reflective tool and a way to communicate more clearly with our community. Impact in the arts is hard to meas‑ ure, but it’s important to try. This report is based largely on interviews with artists, partners, and other stake‑ holders so that it reflects a wide range of voices. We’re also hoping it sparks more dialogue: we want further feedback from our community, so that we can continue learning and growing. 421 has supported more than 1,500 creative practi- tioners through residencies, grants, and commis- sions. What have you learned about nurturing emerg- ing voices in this context? How important is risk-tak-
ing and experimentation to the way 421 works with artists and cultural practitioners? Supporting emerging voices is not optional: they’re es‑ sential catalysts for change. Nurturing them means pro‑ viding spaces for risk‑taking, dialogue, and experimen‑ tation. Growth isn’t linear; it’s about fostering critical thinking, curiosity, and ownership of ideas. Our role is to offer mentorship, resources, and time so that artists can explore unfiltered, ambitious ideas and strengthen their practices. Risk‑taking and experimentation are fundamental to how 421 works. Our Artistic Development Programme, for instance, encourages artists to explore new mediums, scales, or thematic directions. Our team mirrors this ap‑ proach ‑ we constantly challenge ourselves to make bold ideas work institutionally while keeping them accessi‑ ble. I often tell artists: if you’re going to make mistakes, make them here at 421.
