العُزلـــــة والتّجربة الحضريّـــــة عبر التّصوير، والنّحـــــت، والصّـــــوت، ليؤسّـــــس المعرض صوتًا إبداعيًّا مميّزًا للمؤسّسة. وشهد العام ذاته تعزيز شـــــراكات مهمّة مع سينما عقيل ، ممّا No. 57 و“جلف فوتو بلـــــس” ومقهى فـــــي المشـــــهد الثقافي 421 وسّـــــع حضور الإقليميّ. – التكيّـــــف مـــــع الجائحـــــة وتجديد 2020 الاستراتيجيّة الإبداع تحت قيود الأزمة اســـــتجابة للجائحـــــة العالميّـــــة، أطلـــــق “برنامـــــج الإقامـــــة الفنّيـــــة المنزليّة” 421 و“صندوق إحياء المشاريع”، دعمًا للفنّانين المقيمين في الإمارات عبر الإرشاد عن بُعد والمنـــــح الصّغيرة. كما قدّم موســـــمه الأوّل مـــــن البودكاســـــت، فاتحًا قنـــــوات جديدة للحـــــوار المجتمعيّ. وشـــــكّل إطلاق “دكّان ” ونشر “الإطار الاستراتيجي الشّامل 421 ” مرحلـــــة مفصليّـــــة لإعـــــادة 2025-2020 التّفكيـــــر والتّخطيـــــط المســـــتقبليّ، مؤكّدًا التزامًا طويل الأمد بالمرونة والنموّ. 2020 – “بحث وقِطاف” في إكسبو 2021 ٍدبي ربط الممارسة المحليّة بمنصّة عالميّة قُـــــدّم مشـــــروع “بحـــــث وقِطـــــاف” ضمن البرنامـــــج الثّقافـــــي لدولـــــة الإمـــــارات في دبي، مستكشفًا قضايا البيئة 2020 إكسبو وأنظمة الغذاء وصناعة المعرفة الجماعيّة. وفي العام نفسه، توسّعت المؤسّسة داخليًّّا بإنشاء أقسام متخصّصة للبرامج، والتعلّم، والتّدريـــــب، بمـــــا وضـــــع الأســـــاس لنموذج مؤسّسي جديد. للفنون 421 – إطلاق تسمية مَجمَع 2022 من مستودع تجريبي إلى مؤسّسة ثقافيّة متعدّدة الأقسام 421 في الذّكرى السّـــــابعة لتأسيسه، كشف عن إعادة تســـــمية شـــــاملة تعكـــــس تحوّله من مســـــاحة تجريبيّة إلى مَجمَع فنّي يضم عدّة أقسام. وفي العام نفسه، أُطلق برنامج التّطويـــــر الفنّي، وتوسّـــــع برنامـــــج تطوير خبـــــرات التّقييـــــم الفنّي، كما عـــــزّز المَجمَع سهولة الوصول لجميع فئات الجمهور عبر تقديم ملصقات بلغة برايل، وأدلّة صوتيّة، وعناصر لمســـــيّة في المعارض. وســـــاهمت معارض بـــــارزة مثل “دوائر غيـــــر مكتملةٍ” و“بحـــــث وقِطـــــاف” فـــــي صياغـــــة هويّته بدوره 421 بعـــــد عشـــــرة أعـــــوامٍ، يحتفـــــي الرّاســـــخ في المشـــــهد الثقافـــــي الإماراتيّ: ممـــــارس إبداعيٍّ، 1,500 دعـــــم أكثـــــر مـــــن وتعزيـــــز ثقافـــــة التّجربة، وتحفيـــــز الحوار عبـــــر التخصّصـــــات. ولا تُعد هـــــذه المحطّة لحظة تأمّل في إنجازات الماضي فحسب، بل نقطة انطـــــلاق لمرحلة جديدة من النمو . والتعمّق في العمل الثقافيّ. الجديدة وطموحه المتنامي. - عقد من صناعة الأثر 2025

In doing so, we hope to address gaps in the cul‑ tural ecosystem and contribute to a resilient, forward‑thinking arts landscape. KEY MILESTONES IN THE EVOLUTION OF 421 ARTS CAMPUS 2015 – INAUGURAL OPENING OF WAREHOUSE421 The birth of a cultural space in Mina Zayed Warehouse421 opened its doors with a transformative weekend festival that reimagined the port district as a vibrant creative play‑ ground, featuring street performances, interactive installations, open workshops, and night‑time projections. Its debut exhibi‑ tion, Lest We Forget , brought Emirati family archives and personal narratives into the public realm for the first time. A press confer‑ ence by the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation [SHF] also unveiled early plans for a cultural district in Mina Zayed, sig‑ nalling a long‑term institutional vision. 2018 – THE FIRST COMMISSIONED EXHIBITION: ARCHITEC- TURE OF LONELINESS A shift from host venue to commissioning institution Produced in collaboration with Gulf Photo Plus, Architecture of Lone- liness marked 421’s first fully in‑house curatorial project and pho‑ tobook publication. Through photography, sculpture, and sound, participating artists reflected on solitude and urban experience, establishing a distinct editorial voice for the institution. This year also saw the deepening of key partnerships, with Cinema Akil, Gulf Photo Plus, and No. 57 Café, expanding 421’s engagement with the regional cultural scene. 2020 – PANDEMIC ADAPTATION AND STRATEGIC RENEWAL Creativity under constraint In response to the global pandemic, 421 launched the Homebound Residency and Project Revival Fund, supporting UAE‑based artists through remote mentorships and micro‑grants. The institution also introduced its first podcast season, opening up new channels for community dialogue. The development of Dukkan421 and the release of the 2020–2025 Strategic Framework marked a pivotal moment of reflection and forward planning, reaffirming a long‑
term commitment to resilience and growth. 2021 – ON FORAGING AT EXPO 2020 DUBAI Connecting local practice to a global platform
Presented as part of the UAE’s cultural programme at Expo 2020 Dubai, On Foraging explored ecology, food systems, and collective knowledge‑making. The institution also expanded internally, es‑ tablishing dedicated departments for Programmes, Learning, and Internships ‑ laying the groundwork for a new institutional model. 2022 – REBRAND TO 421 ARTS CAMPUS From warehouse to cultural institution Marking its seventh anniversary, 421 unveiled a comprehensive rebrand that reflected its evolution from an experimental venue into a multi‑departmental campus. The Artistic Development Program was launched, the Curatorial Development Program expanded, and a renewed focus on accessibility introduced tools such as Braille labels, audio guides, and tactile exhibition ele‑ ments. Signature exhibitions like Unfinished Circuits and On Foraging II articulated the campus’s renewed identity and ambition. 2025 – A DECADE OF IMPACT Ten years on, 421 celebrates its enduring role in the UAE’s cul‑ tural ecosystem: supporting over 1,500 creative practitioners, fostering experimentation, and catalysing dialogue across dis‑ ciplines. This milestone is not just a retrospective moment but a point of departure for continued growth, deeper engagement, and expansive vision. .
