إن الإنسان هو أساس أية عملية حضارية . . اهتمامنا بالإنسان ضروري لأنه محور كل تقد ّّم حقيقي “ مستمر مهما أقمنا من مباني ومنشآت ومد ّارس ومستشفيات . . ومهما مد ّدنا من جسور وأقمنا من زينات فإن ذلك كلّه يظل كيانا ماديا لا روح فيه.. وغير قادر على الاستمرار. إن روح كل ذلك الإنسان. ” الإنسان القادر بفكره، القادر بفنّه وإمكانياته على صيانة كل هذه المنشآت والتقد ّّم بها والنمو معها.

فتمنحنـــا فســـحة نـــادرة لتأمّـــل الرحلـــة التـــي قطعناهـــا عبـــر الأعـــداد الثلاثـــة الســـابقة. نقـــف مـــع أنفســـنا لنســـأل: مـــا التحدّيـــات التـــي واجهتنـــا؟ وهـــل نجحنـــا فـــي الوصـــول إلــى قــرّاء جــدد بحكايــات تقــدّم المعرفــة والمتعــة علــى حــد ســواء؟ أو ربّمــا تلامــس شـــغاف قلوبهـــم علـــى مســـتوى أعمـــق؟ وأيـــن أخطأنـــا التّقديـــر؟ ومـــا الـــذي يمكـــن تحسـينه؟ ثـم يطـل السـؤال الأكبـر: إلـى أيـن نمضـي بعـد ذلـك؟ مـع كل عـددٍ، نخـوض محاولتنـــا الدائمـــة لإيجـــاد تـــوازن دقيـــق بيـــن المحلّـــي والعالمـــيّ، بيـــن مـــا يولـــد هنـــا، ومـــا يتـــردّد صـــداه فـــي أماكـــن بعيـــدة. نلاحـــق اللحظـــات المفصليّـــة وهـــي تتشـــكّل، لا لنكتفـــي بتســـجيلها، بـــل لنحفظهـــا علـــى الـــورق كذاكـــرة حيّـــة للأجيـــال القادمـــة. هـــي معادلـة حسّاسـة لا تخلـو مـن الشّــد والجـذب، إذ نحـاول الاقتـراب مـن جمهـور واسـع مـــن دون أن نـــذوب فـــي التيّـــار، وأن نظـــل أوفيـــاء لحكايتنـــا الأولـــى، ولذلـــك الصّـــوت الـذي انطلقـت منـه شـواطئ. وفـي خضـم كل ذلـك، تبقـى الأصالـة خيـارًا لا مسـاومة فيـــه. فنحـــن لســـنا مطبوعـــة تُطـــارِد اللحظـــة العابـــرة، بـــل مســـاحة متأنّيـــة تُصغـــي قبـــل أن تَنْشـــر، وتحتفـــي بمحتـــوى أصيـــل لا يشـــيخ، وبفنّانيـــن ومبدعيـــن يكتبـــون مســـتقبلهم بموهبـــة تعانـــق الابتـــكار. شـــكّلت الثقافـــة منـــذ البدايـــات ركنًـــا أصيـــلا فـــي بنـــاء دولـــة الإمـــارات، ونمـــت ملامـــح المشـــهد الثقافـــي الإماراتـــي عبـــر تحـــوّلات عميقـــة، تعكســـها اليـــوم شـــبكة غنيّـــة تضـــم أكثـــر مـــن أربعيـــن متحفًـــا تاريخيًّـــا وثقافيًّـــا. وعندمـــا تأسّسَـــت دولـــة الإمـــارات ، قبـــل أربعـــة وخمســـين عامًـــا، كانـــت البـــلاد لا 1971 العربيّـــة المتّحـــدة فـــي ديســـمبر تـــزال مســـاحة مبهمـــة الملامـــح فـــي الوعـــي العالمـــيّ، ومحـــدودة التّعريـــف بثقافتهـــا وأهلهـــا. لكـــن، علـــى امتـــداد أكثـــر مـــن خمســـة عقـــود مـــن التّغيّـــر المتســـارع، أعـــادت دولـــة الإمـــارات صياغـــة صورتهـــا، لتغـــدو مركـــزًا عالميًّـــا للأعمـــال والســـياحة، ومنصّـــة نابضــة للفنــون والثقافــة، وحاضنــة للابتــكار التكنولوجــيّ. وفــي الثالــث مــن ديســمبر ، تحقّـــق أخيـــرًا ذلـــك الموعـــد المنتظـــر، مـــع افتتـــاح متحـــف زايـــد الوطنـــيّ، فـــي 2025 لحظـة مفصليّــة كشَــفَت عـن تحفـة ثقافيّــة تضـم إرث أمّــة بأكملهـا. إنّــه صـرح يتجـاوز حــدود الإبهــار المعمــاري ليغــدو بيانًــا ثقافيًّــا يكــرّم القائــد المؤسِّــس، الشــيخ زايــد بــن ســـلطان آل نهيـــان، ورؤيتـــه التـــي وضعـــت الإنســـان والثقافـــة فـــي صميـــم المشـــروع الوطنـــيّ. وخـــلال العقـــد الأخيـــر، خَطَـــت أبوظبـــي خطـــوات واثقـــة نحـــو تحقيـــق طموحــات ثقافيّــة كبــرى فــي مجــالات الفنــون والمعرفــة، فــي مســيرة ســتبلغ ذروتهــا . 2026 المرتقبـــة مـــع افتتـــاح متحـــف غوغنهايـــم أبوظبـــي فـــي أواخـــر عـــام تتنـــاول نســـختنا الأحـــدث طيفًـــا واســـعًا مـــن الموضوعـــات، ومـــع طـــي صفحـــة العـــدد الثانـــي والســـبعين، نتوجّـــه إليكـــم، قرّاءنـــا الأعـــزّاء فـــي الدّاخـــل والخـــارج، بخالـــص الشـــكر والامتنـــان علـــى دعمكـــم المتواصـــل، ووفائكـــم، وثقتكـــم التـــي نعتـــز بهـــا دائمًـــا. وإذ نســـتقبل عامًـــا جديـــدًا، نرجـــو لكـــم ولمـــن تحبّـــون أيامًـــا مملـــوءة بالخيـــر والطمأنينــة. نلتقيكــم مــن جديــد فــي أواخــر مــارس، لنحتفــي معًــا بإصدارنــا الخــاص بالذكـرى التاسـعة عشـرة لمولـد مجلّتنـا. وإلـى ذلـك الحيـن، نتمنّــى لكـم عامًــا مملـوءًا بالصحـــة والســـلام والأمـــان والفـــرح، وقـــراءة ممتعـــةً!
، يتســـلّل إلينـــا شـــعور غريـــب بـــأن الزمـــن قـــد أفلـــت مـــن 2026 مـــع اقتـــراب عـــام بيـــن أيدينـــا، وأن عامًـــا آخـــر انقضـــى فـــي غمضـــة عيـــن. ففـــي عصـــر يتقـــدّم بخطـــى متلاحقـــةٍ، تحكمـــه الســـرعة، وتغذّيـــه التقنيـــات المتطـــوّرة، ويـــزداد فيـــه الهـــوس بالــذكاء الاصطناعــي، بــات التوقّــف عنــد اللحظــة الراهنــة والإنصــات لمــا حولنــا فعــلا نــادرًا، يــكاد يشــبه وهــم الراحــة وســط ضجيــج لا يهــدأ. أمّــا النّــأي بالنّفــس عــن هــذا الضجيـــج، فقـــد تحـــوّل إلـــى امتيـــاز لا يتـــاح إلا للقليليـــن. وحتـــى مـــن ينجحـــون فـــي ذلـــك، كثيـــرًا مـــا يكتشـــفون أنّهـــم لـــم يتحـــرّروا حقًّـــا، إذ اعتـــادوا العيـــش فـــي حالـــة اتصـال دائـم، يتدفّــق فيهـا سـيل لا ينقطـع مـن المعلومـات، سـواء كانـت صحيحـة أو مغلوطــةً. ولهــذا، تفــرض هــذه اللحظــة، أكثــر مــن أي وقــت مضــى وقفــة صادقــة مــع الـــذات، ودعـــوة إلـــى التأمّـــل وإعـــادة ترتيـــب الأولويّـــات، والعـــودة إلـــى ســـؤال بســـيط وعميـــق فـــي آن واحـــد: مـــا الـــذي يســـتحق حقًّـــا أن نعيـــش لأجلـــه فـــي هـــذه الحيـــاة؟ وجـــرت العـــادة أن يكـــون هـــذا الوقـــت مـــن العـــام موســـمًا للقـــرارات الجريئـــة التـــي نتّخذهـا بحمـاس كبيـر، ثـم نتركهـا تتبـدّد عنـد أوّل اختبـار للزمـن. وربّمـا كان الأجـدر بنـــا، فـــي هـــذه اللحظـــة بالـــذات، أن نُخفّـــف عـــن أنفســـنا وطـــأة مطـــاردة الأهـــداف وتحقيـــق الإنجـــازات، وأن نتعلّـــم فضيلـــة الرِّفـــق بالنّفـــس. لنجعـــل مـــن هـــذه الفتـــرة فسـحة للإصغـاء إلـى مـا يهمّنـا بحـقّ، لا إلـى صخـب الأخبـار القاتمـة، ولا إلـى طوفـان الصـــور والكلمـــات العابـــرة التـــي تمـــر علـــى الشاشـــات وتتـــرك خلفهـــا فراغًـــا ثقيـــل الحضـــور. لعلّهـــا لحظـــة مناســـبة لأن نلتفـــت إلـــى منابـــع ســـعادتنا وإلهامنـــا، وأن نتـــرك لهـــا مكانًـــا رحبًـــا فـــي أيّامنـــا وخواطرنـــا. إنّهـــا دعـــوة لأن نُعيـــد فتـــح دفاتـــر الأحـــلام المؤجّلــة، والرغبــات الأســيرة، وأن نجــرّب هوايــات طالمــا لوّحــت لنــا مــن بعيــد، وأن نمنـــح أنفســـنا حـــق التّرحـــال، لا فـــرارًا، بـــل بحثًـــا عـــن مـــلاذات توقـــد شـــغف الـــرّوح مـــن جديـــد. مـــع أفـــول نجـــم عـــام آخـــر، لنقطـــع علـــى أنفســـنا عهـــدًا بتوطيـــد صِلاتنـــا الإنسـانيّة، والتقـرّب أكثـر مـن العائلـة والأصدقـاء، وأن نُخفّــف، فـي المقابـل، مـن تلـك الرّوابـــط الرقميّـــة الهشّـــة التـــي لا تمنحنـــا إلا وهـــم التّواصـــل. إلـــى حـــد مـــا، نحـــن جميعًـــا شـــركاء فـــي إهمـــال اللحظـــة الرّاهنـــة، إذ نرهـــق أنفســـنا بالتّعلـــق بغـــد غيـــر موعـــودٍ. غيـــر أن الخطـــر الحقيقـــي يكمـــن فـــي أن نُســـلِّم أنفســـنا للفتـــور، وأن نســـمح لـــلا مبـــالاة بالتّســـلّل إلـــى وعينـــا. فالسّـــير نحـــو مســـتقبل غيـــر مضمـــون لا يحتمـــل الاستســـلام، بـــل يســـتدعي قـــدرًا أكبـــر مـــن الأمـــل، وصفـــاء فـــي النظــرة، وإيمانًــا بــأن التّغييــر هــو الحقيقــة الوحيــدة الثابتــة فــي هــذه الحيــاة. ولعــل خلـــف صخـــب الحيـــاة اليوميّـــة، وزحمـــة الأوراق المكدّســـة علـــى مكاتبنـــا، وضجيـــج الأفـكار فـي رؤوسـنا، يكمـن جوهـر أعمـق وأقـدر علـى الاسـتمرار، وعلـى منـح الحيـاة فرحهـا الحقيقـيّ. ولقـد عبّــرت جيـن غـودال عـن هـذه الخواطـر بأبلـغ الكلمـات عندمـا قالــت: ”لا يمــر يــوم دون أن نتــرك أثــرًا فــي العالــم مــن حولنــا؛ فــكل مــا نفعلــه يُحــدث فرقًـــا، والمســـؤوليّة كلّهـــا تكمـــن فـــي أن نختـــار نـــوع الأثـــر الـــذي نريـــد أن نتركـــه.“ بالنســـبة إلينـــا فـــي شـــواطئ، يترافـــق ختـــام العـــام بمزيـــج متناقـــض مـــن المشـــاعر. ، 2025 وكمجلّـــة تصـــدر فصليًّـــا، تمثّـــل هـــذه النســـخة محطّتنـــا الأخيـــرة فـــي عـــام
As 2026 is nearly upon us, it seems almost impossible to recon- cile how quickly this year has passed. Given our current fast- paced, fast-tracked, technologically advanced, AI obsessed age, the idea of paying attention to the present moment and find- ing respite from the deluge of digital information has become a ‘mirage’; a preoccupation among those privileged enough to be able to unplug. Even for those who are able to ‘unplug’ - so to speak – many have become accustomed to being constantly connected to a non-stop flow of [mis] information. Now, more than ever, we have to take stock and look inward; we need to reflect on what’s truly important in life. Traditionally speaking, this is the time of the year people start making unrealistic resolutions, which mostly get cast aside and forgotten rather quickly. Perhaps, now is a better time to just be kinder to ourselves. Think about what you really care about, and make sure that’s what you’re giving your time and attention to, rather than indulging in an onslaught of negative news updates, posts, reels or tweets on social media. Think about where your happiness and inspiration lie, and make sure you’re including space in your days and your thoughts for those. Think about unfufilled dreams and desires, new hobbies you’d like to explore, travels you’d like to escape on. Spend more time connecting deeply with family and friends and less time connecting superficially with digital devices. To an extent, we are all guilty of not engaging in the here and now , but rather fixating over a ‘tomorrow’ that is not guaranteed. We must be mindful not to resign ourselves to being apathetic and disengaged , we must strive to remain hopeful and positive as we move towards an uncertain future, as the only constant in life is change . Perhaps there’s something deeper and more sustaining underneath all the clutter on your desk [and noise in your head] that will really ultimately bring you more fulfilment and joy in your life. In the words of the late Jane Goodall, “You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of a difference you want to make.” For us at Shawati’ , the end of the year is bittersweet. As a quarterly publication, this is our final edition of 2025, which gives us ample time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished
with the previous three. What challenges did we face? Did we succeed in reaching new audiences with stories that in- form, entertain, or resonate on a deeper level? What pieces did we miss the mark on? What can we improve on? What’s next? With every issue we create we aim to strike a balance between local and global stories, capturing and document- ing landmark moments, as they occur, and preserving them in print for future generations. For us it’s always a deli- cate balance to please the majority, while simultaneously striving to stay true to our ‘origin story’ and honouring the ethos of our brand. For us it’s about maintaining our authenticity; as we’re not a mainstream publication, we have time to curate timeless original content featuring in- novative artists. Culture plays a vital role in the foundation of the UAE. The Emirati culture has witnessed many significant develop- ments in their cultural landscape, which is evidenced by the UAE’s offering of 40-plus historical and cultural muse- ums. When the United Arab Emirates was established in December 1971, fifty four years ago, little was known about the country, culture or people. After five plus decades of rapid development, the UAE has been transformed into a major hub for business & tourism, arts & culture and technological innovation. On 3 December 2025, the historic and long-an- ticipated moment was finally realised – the opening of Zayed National Museum. A cultural masterpiece was unveiled, and is now the national museum of the country. It is not only an architectural marvel, but also a fitting tribute to the late visionary leader, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. In the last decade Abu Dhabi has realised many grand cultural aspirations in the realm of arts and culture, concluding with the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi slated to open in late 2026. Our latest edition touches on many topics, and as we turn the page on our 72 nd issue, we would like to thank you, our dear readers, at home and abroad for your continued sup- port, loyalty and patronage.
