Afaaq Thaqafiyya – Cultural Blueprints
ننظر إلى هذا التّوازن بوصفه مسؤوليّة تتطلّب تخطيطًا استراتيجيًّا دقيقًا ورؤية بعيـــــدة المدى. وتقوم رؤيتنا على تفاعل مســـــؤول يجعل من زيارة الموقع امتيازًا يقوم على الوعي والمعرفة والاحترام. وسنحقّق ذلك من خال زيارات مضبوطة بإحكام، يقودها خبراء متخصّصون، تتحوّل خالها التّجربة من نشـــــاط ســـــياحي عابـــــر إلى رحلة تعليميّة ملهمة. وفي نهاية المطاف، نهدف إلى غرس تقدير عميق للموقع، متوازن بين هشاشـــــته وأهميّته، علّنا نُساهم في تحويل الزوّار إلى سفراء لصونه وحمايته. أمّـــــا البنية التحتيّة التي نُطوّرها، فتُصمّـــــم بأدنى أثر بيئي ممكن، وبطريقة تراعي الوئام مع طبيعة المشـــــهد. ونؤمن بأن السّـــــياحة الواعية والمســـــؤولة تُشكّل أداة فاعلـــــة في بناء مجتمـــــع عالمي ملتزم بصون هذا التّراث الـــــذي لا يُقدّر بثمن على المدى الطّويل. إذا أمكن لسموّك أن تشاركي رسالة شخصيّة واحدة مع العالم حول أهميّة هذا الموقع، فماذا تكون؟ لو اســـــتطعت توجيه رســـــالة واحدةٍ، لكانت هذه: الفاية تدعونا إلى توسيع عدسة التّاريخ. فهي تذكّرنا بأن الحكاية الإنســـــانيّة أوســـــع مـــــن أي رواية منفردةٍ؛ كتبتها أياد كثيـــــرة، وصاغتها أصوات متعدّدة. وعندما نمنح هذا التنوّع حقّه، ندرك كيف ساهمت كل ثقافة في تشكيل سرديّتنا المشتركة. وتُحدّثنا الفاية أيضًا عن الصّمود. فقد واجه أســـــافنا مناخـــــات قاحلة ومتقلّبة، ومع ذلك وجدوا طرقًـــــا للتعلّم والتكيّف والابتكار. فإن كانوا قد اســـــتطاعوا بناء حياة في تلك الظّروف، فبوســـــعنا نحـــــن أيضًا أن نواجه تحدّيـــــات عصرنا بذات الشّجاعة والخيال. وتحمّلنا الفاية أيضًا مســـــؤوليّة أخاقيّة. فسيأتي يوم يدرس فيه الآخرون الآثار التي ســـــنتركها خلفنا. ماذا ســـــيعرفون عنّا؟ ماذا سيقولون عن قيمنا، وعن طريقة عنايتنا ببعضنا البعض وبالأرض؟ فلنَعِش اليوم بطريقة تُمكّن المستقبل من أن يجد شواهد على الحكمة والعطــــــــف والرّعايــــة، وأنّنا كنّا حمـــــــــاة لهذا الكوكـــــــــــــــب ولتراث الإنســــــــــــان، لا مجرّد عابري . سبيل فيه.
How do you envision balancing the protection of this fragile landscape with increased global interest and po- tential tourism? Balancing protection with global interest is a responsibility we approach with strategic care, and our vision is one of responsible engagement where access is a privilege guided by education and respect. We will manage this through carefully controlled, ex- pert-led visits that transform each experience from a simple tour- istic activity into an inspiring educational encounter. Ultimately, we aim to instil a deep appreciation for the site, balanced between fragility and significance, cultivating visitors who become am- bassadors for its preservation. All necessary infrastructure is developed with a minimal environ- mental footprint and integrated sensitively into the landscape. We view informed, respectful tourism as a powerful tool for build- ing a global community dedicated to the long-term safeguarding of this priceless heritage. If you could share one personal message with the world about the importance of this site, what would it be? If I could offer one message, it would be this: Faya asks us to wid- en the lens of history. It reminds us that the human story is larg- er than any single account. Many hands wrote it. Many voices shaped it. When we honour that fullness, we see how every cul- ture has shaped our shared narrative. Faya also speaks of resilience. Our ancestors faced shifting, arid climates and still found ways to learn, to adapt, to create. If they could build lives in such conditions, we can meet the challenges of our own time with the same courage and imagination. And Faya gives us a responsibility. One day, others will study the traces we leave behind. What will they learn about who we were, what we valued, and how we cared for one another and for the Earth? Let us live so that the future finds evidence of wisdom, kindness, and guardianship. .

الصّمود خال فترات الرّطوبة والجفاف على حد سواء. ويكشف الموقع كيـــــف طوّر الصيّـــــادون وجامعو الثّمـــــار الأوائل، ثـــــم مجموعات الصّيد والرّعـــــي في المراحل الاّحقة، اســـــتراتيجيّات متقدّمة للتكيّف مع هذا المشهد الطبيعيّ، مستفيدين من تضاريسه الفريدة وموارده المائيّة التي أتاحت لهم البقاء والازدهار. ويُبيّن لنا الموقع، تبعًا لذلك، أن أسافنا لم يكونوا متلقّين ســـــلبيّين أمام تقلّبات المناخ، بل كانوا مبتكرين، فاعلين، صنعوا مصائرهم بأيديهم. ومع التحدّيات المناخيّة التي يواجهها عالمنا اليوم، تصبح هذه الرسالة بالغة الأهميّة لمجتمعنا العالميّ. ما الخطوات التي تتّخذها الشـــــارقة لضمان الحفاظ المســـــتدام على الموقع للأجيال القادمة؟ تعتمد الشارقة نهجًا شاما واستباقيًّا، مرتكزًا إلى مبادئ الاستدامة في حفـــــظ الموقع. فنحن نُطبّق إطارًا متكاما يربـــــط بين الحماية والغاية، يشـــــمل وضع سياسات سياحيّة مســـــتدامة منخفضة التّأثير، يُدار فيها النفاذ إلى الموقع بعناية من قبل خبراء مدرَّبين من هيئة الشارقة للآثار، وتحت رقابة بيئيّة توفّرها هيئة البيئة والمحميّات الطبيعيّة. ويقـــــع التّعليم في صلب هـــــذه الرّؤية؛ فنحن نعمل علـــــى تطوير برامج بالتعـــــاون مع المـــــدارس والجامعات فـــــي دولة الإمارات لإعـــــداد جيل جديد من الحُمـــــاة الذين يدركون أن التّراث والاســـــتدامة لا ينفصان. ومن خال السّـــــرد الرقميّ، والعروض الافتراضيّـــــة، والأفام الوثائقيّة المجتمعيّـــــة، نحرص على أن تصل قصّة الفاية إلـــــى جمهور عالميّ، مع الحفاظ على سامة الموقع على أرض الواقع. ويرتكز نهجنا في الوقت نفســـــه، إلى شـــــراكات بحثيّة طويلة الأمد مع مؤسّســـــات أكاديميّة عالميّـــــة مرموقة، منها جامعـــــة توبنغن في ألمانيا وجامعة أكسفورد بروكس في المملكة المتّحدة. وتضمن هذه الشّراكات أن تعكس اســـــتراتيجيّاتنا في إدارة الموقع أحدث ما توصّل إليه العلم في فهم هذا المشهد الفريد الذي لا يُمكن تعويضه. كيـــــف تتصوّرين تحقيق التّـــــوازن بين حماية هذا المشـــــهد الطبيعي الهش وازدياد الاهتمام العالمي به وما قد يُرافقه من نشاط سياحيّ؟
The Faya Palaeolandscape is said to provide insights into some of the earliest human settlements. What unique narratives does it tell about humanity’s shared history? Unlike other regions where human presence was shaped by favourable cli- mates, the communities at Faya demonstrated an incredible capacity to persist through both wet and dry periods; and it reveals how early hunt- er-gatherer and later hunter-herder groups developed sophisticated strat- egies to adapt to this landscape, leveraging its unique geomorphology and water sources. This site, therefore, tells us that our ancestors were not passive to climate change, but active, innovative people who shaped their own destiny. As we face our own climate challenges, this is a lesson of immense relevance for our global community. What steps is Sharjah taking to ensure the sustainable preservation of the site for future generations? Sharjah’s approach to preservation is comprehensive, proactive, and root- ed in sustainability. We are implementing a framework that integrates protection with purpose. This includes developing sustainable, low-im- pact tourism policies where access is carefully managed by trained experts from the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, with ecological oversight from the Environment and Protected Areas Authority. Education is central to this vision. We are creating programmes with UAE schools and universities to nurture a new generation of stewards who un- derstand that heritage and sustainability are inseparable. Through digital storytelling, virtual exhibits, and community-led documentaries, we are ensuring that the narrative of Faya reaches a global audience while main- taining the site’s physical integrity. Our approach also builds on longstanding research collaborations with leading academic institutions, including the University of Tübingen in Germany and Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom. These partnerships ensure that our management strategies reflect the most ad- vanced scientific understanding of this irreplaceable landscape.
