A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Spring always brings a sense of revitalization, and here in Sunrise, it also ushers in a season of exciting opportunities for community engagement and celebration. As we settle into 2025, I am thrilled to share a preview of the many ways our city is coming together to embrace this vibrant season. As you read this, we will have just unveiled the all-new Village Art Plaza near City Park. This creative oasis will host dozens of unique events each year and be home to local artist-created murals and sculptures that should inspire anyone who visits. This project has been in the works for nearly five years, and we’re thrilled to finally see it open to the public for all to appreciate. The park plans to host recurring events like Farmer’s Markets and food truck events, live music, interactive audio tours, and state-of-the- art augmented reality experiences. This plaza is a truly special area that we all hope you’ll enjoy. Also, in time for spring, our city is thrilled to see the completion of our 500-space parking garage attached to the new City Hall and our improved Sunrise Civic Center Amphitheater . The addition of parking will help improve your customer experience at City Hall and the entertainment experience at our Civic Center and Amphitheater.
Looking forward, our commitment to nurturing the lives of our young residents continues to expand with great events focused on families. These wonderful events include an educational and fun Earth Day Festival on April 12th. The week after, our annual Royal Egg Hunt on April 19th is sure to be a great opportunity for everyone to get involved outdoors. For those who appreciate live music, the upcoming free Tunes’ N Trucks concert series will light up our outdoor venues on April 25th, May 16th, and June 20th. Each event helps bring our community together for a night of music and dancing, along with a wide array of food truck offerings. Finally, I invite you to observe our Memorial Day Ceremony on May 26th. This solemn event honors the bravery and sacrifices of our service members, and it reminds us of the freedoms we must cherish every day. On behalf of the entire City Commission, let us celebrate this season of growth and renewal together as we continue to make Sunrise the best place to live, work, play, eat, shop and learn.
Michael J. Ryan, Mayor
