Nestled on a farm in the heart of North Cornwall, St. Eval sustainably crafts high- quality candles using a blend of traditional and contemporary methods, perfecting the art and science of high-quality candle-making for over 28 years. From humble beginnings as a small family operation, St. Eval now employs more than 50 people, with its candles, home fragrance and hand care products sold globally. St. Eval’s ethos – to tread softly on the Earth – is embedded through all aspects of the business, with people and planet at its very heart. Proudly producing its own sustainable energy via wind, solar and biomass, St. Eval is helping to reduce its carbon footprint and impact on the environment. This innovative triple energy solution integrates wind, solar and biomass energy power to heat buildings and the water used on-site, in addition to a ‘water-to-air space heater’ to heat the air in the warehouse. The latter reduces energy consumption as well as feeding surplus electricity back in to the local grid to serve the local community.
PROTECTING FLORA AND FAUNA St. Eval works closely with the RSPB, Natural England, Cornwall Wildlife Trust and local charities to support important wildlife projects and protect flora and fauna on the farm. The farm itself, where the candle factory is based, has gained High Level Stewardship to further support this work. St. Eval’s Chief Executive Officer, Ian Greaves, believes a key element to the business’ success has been the people at its heart.
