Quality Bearings Online has a double celebration by receiving the Queen’s Award for International Trade and marking 10 years of continuous growth. With over 75 years of industry experience, Quality Bearings Online (QBOL) is a multi-award- winning e-commerce distribution company that supplies precision bearings, engineering spares and technologically advanced lubricants to customers in over 110 countries worldwide. Quality Bearings Online is incredibly honoured and proud to have won the Queen’s Award For Enterprise For International Trade. Celebrating its 10th anniversary In 2012, Co-Directors Simon Riley and Denny Maude founded a business to revolutionise the bearing industry. At the beginning, it was not about exporting, but on 26 June 2012, the business identified a gap in the market when it received its first international order.
The business now consists of 18 talented and driven individuals, and has been recognised for its successes by winning multiple awards for exporting, business and e-commerce growth. Denny Maude, CEO, comments: “The achievement of winning awards, especially one of the most prestigious business awards in the UK, is a recognition of our dedicated team, who have worked incredibly hard to drive the business forward to where we are today.” In 2015, Quality Bearings Online wanted to push its exporting journey to new levels by attending the Passport to Export programme delivered by the Department of International Trade (DIT). The Leeds City Region Enterprise and Partnership (LEP) also provided the business with support and funding to help accelerate the businesses digital growth. Breaking barriers Quality Bearings Online is constantly looking for ways to break barriers and drive change. The company encourages women in engineering and employs new talent from graduates and apprenticeship schemes across Yorkshire. Over 67% of the workforce are women, with an average age of 29. The young, dynamic and talented team continue to deliver record-breaking results, with a 76% growth in the past year. What’s next? As the company progresses further into 2022, a key focus is heavily investing in strategy to help bring the vision of the company forward while focusing on delivering their mission to customers.
