THE KING’S BUSINESS

of some Christian denomination. The American Sunday School Union works for all denominations. Then again, all the great denominations, or churches like the Method ist, Presbyterian, Baptist, etc., have their Sunday school home missionaries. This work is very much blessed by the Lord, who loves the children and says, “of such is the king dom of heaven,” and great and useful churches grow out of it. 4. Church Home Missionaries. While C. E. work and S. S. work are all church work, for they all belong to the Church, still the greatest home missionary work is done directly by the Church. It is a very Christly thing to do, for some to pray and pay,, and others to go, in order that men and women everywhere may have the gospel, the Word of life, and a company of believ ing people gathered to meet for God’s wor ship and service everywhere. As mission aries and their families cannot live on noth ing, we all should be home missionaries by giving our money, our prayers, and our lov ing sympathy to them who go to the work in unattractive places, and often among un friendly and disagreeable people for their sake and Jesus’ sake. Note: The leader should write the sev eral classes of home missions on the hoard.

on a mission, or errand for another. We call the Lord’s gospel messengers to new regions missionaries. There-are foreign mis sionaries, or such as are sent to foreign, es pecially heathen countries, and home mis sionaries, or such as are sent to needy places in city or country in our own land where they have no gospel ministry, to preach the Word of God, make new con verts, seek out unknown Christians, gather them together and start a church among them. 1. Endeavor Home Missionaries. We have missionaries sent out. by the C. E. society, who go into such places, hunt up a few young folks, and older ones too, and start a C. E. in somebody’s house, or. a school house. There they meet and pray, and talk the gospel, till Christians are waked up, new converts made, and the work of going from house to house carried on. In this way new churches are made and sup ported until they call a pastor, when the missionary goes on to a new field. 2. Sunday School Home Missionaries. The American Sunday School Union is a society made up of earnest followers of Jesus who have men and women engaged to start Sunday schools in needy places that they may grow into self-supporting churches
