THE KING’S BUSINESS

A very hopeless case at another time proved that “all things are possible with God.” . The worker was approached by a man bearing the marks of sin and drunken ness, with the request for help. This was given cheerfuly in the name of the Lord and the question put up-to him if he was a Christian. “I am a member of Baptist church in S——” he replied. As he then was told that his need was Christ, who alone could save him from the awful drink habit and from the greater sin of rejecting Christ in unbelief, “What do you want me to do?” he asked, “Go home and pray on my knees?” “You can be saved right here on this street without praying to God by the simple act of accepting God’s gift, His only hetgotten Son, as your personal Sav iour.” Affer more Scripture was given him to show him the way clearly, he finally professed his willingness to accept Christ as his personal Saviour and was shown how he could have victory over sin in his life. He was a very wretched looking man and beyond human hope, yet “He is able” to keep him, we know. We trust prayer may be offered for him at this time in his Chris tian experience. A special case, of many definite answers to prayer, shows that the workers can re- j oice in God’s blessing upon the work. After T IFE is so full of opportunity! Each day brings rare privileges for service for Christ so sweet as to clear away from Jewish children’s hearts the prejudices that' hide the loveliness of our Lord Jesus from their eyes. I n a particular corner of Boyle Heights is a poor little Jewish home where our Bible woman always finds a hearty welcome. The children invariably hail her on the street, take her by the hand and lead her up on their porch, then they line up on the porch

prayer that God might definitely guide the worker to a number of isolated men and open doors of utterance to just the ones most needy, assurance was given of His guidance the moment the worker stepped on board the ship. He was directed to one man after the other, -the .Lord using many little incidents of a strange, unexpected character to open up opportunity for a private talk with one man, then blocking the way, and leading the worker to another “prepared” man. This last was a man sick with consumption, with little hope for re covery and unsaved. After telling him the Gospel story the worker left a tract and New Testament, for he saw that the man was very weak and while almost persuaded, not willing to accept Christ as his personal Saviour. Definite prayer was offered for this soul and the worker was led to re visit the shiT>, and when he asked the man if he had read the tract, he said he had, and also a portion of the New Testament. Through His Word God reached that needy heart, and to the joy of the worker he stepped from darkness into light as he ac cepted Christ as his personal Saviour in that cabin that became his birthplace of new life and power. It was a privilege to feed that hungry soul, a new creature in Christ, with the Word of assurance of salvation and the first things of the Christian life. railing and say, “Now tell us some more stories.” This day, Bertha, the oldest, said, Begin, please, at the very first for, some of the children here don’t know anything about God.” “Some of the children” meant a little Spanish girl, a cripple whom I had not seen before. I spent a good hour with them and had the joy of seeing Bertha, who is about twelve years old, and the Span ish girl, perhaps a little older, accept Jesus Christ, making the way plain through Jesus’ own illustration in the third chapter of John, the Brazen Serpent.
