IUJBrochure 2024-2025

The Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) is a program run by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of Official Development Assistance (ODA), which sends young Japanese who have a desire to contribute to the world to developing countries as volunteers for two years. IUJ established the International Social Entrepreneurship Program in 2021 for JOCV graduates and candidates who will be sent abroad in the future; in September 2024, the program was expanded to include JICA-related international students. The aim of the program is to provide young people who wish to work as social entrepreneurs and contribute to the resolution of sustainable social issues through business or NPOs in the future, or who wish to work for social development in partnership with the private sector in aid organizations such as international organizations, with the knowledge, ideas and connections necessary for them to take actual action. The aim is to provide an educational space where young people who wish to work for social development, in partnership with the private sector and with aid agencies such as international organizations, can gain the knowledge, ideas and connections necessary to take real action. In addition to on-campus lectures, the practical program incorporates in the curriculum a trial business plan that envisages actually working as a social entrepreneur through field practice in developing countries or rural areas of Japan. On completion of the program, students are awarded a Master of Social Entrepreneurship (MSE) degree. The MSE degree is based on a balanced study of international relations with a business administration background, as social entrepreneurs and international cooperation specialists are required to have an interdisciplinary mindset. ISEP Feature

In the ISEP program, students can develop the ability to sustainably tackle social issues. This can be done via the understanding of global social issues and international development through courses in International Relations, while learning business through courses in International Management. Development Economics (Prof. Hideaki Goto) We can learn how economists see global social issues such as poverty and educational inequality. The course lectures allowed me to gain new insights on international development. Discussing social issues with international classmates was one of the things I most enjoyed about the class. I hope to work on projects that contribute to the happiness and equality of people not only in Japan but also in various other countries. Social Business Leading Innovation in Education

Double Degree Program

IUJ's Double Degree Program (DDP) is an educational program in which students can obtain two degrees (one from IUJ and one from an IUJ partner university) upon their graduation from both universities. In principle, the program's structure is based on the existing curriculum of both IUJ and partner universities.

There are already many graduates who have completed this program, and we strongly hope that this program will contribute to producing global leaders and to promoting peace and stability throughout the world for future generations.
