How your study and life at IUJ help you develop your career
My experience at IUJ has proved to be one of the most productive and exciting periods of my life. Not only did I expand my knowledge and skills that I can leverage in the business world, but I also made life-long friends from all around the world. The study environment is unique, located in the stunning Japanese countryside while attracting a very diverse cohort of people from different backgrounds. I chose IUJ for the opportunity to study at one of Japan’s most prestigious MBA programs with a scholarship. I received a scholarship from MEXT for the whole duration of my two-year study. Through my classes in the Japan-Global Development MBA Program I developed a good foundation in business through courses, such as strategy and accounting, as well as I learned about the unique aspect of Japanese corporations and management styles. As an employee of a Japanese company, the academic courses have benefitted me greatly to better understand my working environment. The graduate school offers a host of extracurricular activities students can pursue. You have the opportunity to a make positive contribution to students’ life through elected organizations, for example, the International Relations Council, or the International Management Council. I was an elected member of the IM Council, where I organized events for students such as the Alumni Career-Talk, helping students navigate their career development after business school. This experience helped me improve leadership, coordination and communication skills which I find useful in my current role as a project manager. For career-focused students like myself, IUJ provides plenty of resources to build your ideal path after graduation. The career office is there to help you pursue your goals, draft your job applications and prepare for interviews, but of course it is important to put much effort in job-hunting if you want to see results.
I currently work at Mitsubishi Fuso as a project manager, leading efforts to transform the sales process of a traditional Japanese company. I believe that IUJ has supported me in getting me here and has also equipped me with the skills to grow in my career.
