God” (John 20:28). His woras and His works single Him out as the only begot ten of the Father, the Word made flesh (John 1:1-18). Doubt is Unjustified Because of the Resurrection Christ is proved to be the Son of God with power through the resurrection from the dead (Rom. 1:4). The risen Christ inspired his disciples to face a hostile world with triumph; He returned to them in the Person of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2); He lives in the heart of every believer as the dynamic and inspiration of his life (Gal. 2:29). Doubt is Unjustified Because of Transformed Lives Just one look at the ten disciples who stood there before him should have con vinced Thomas of the fact of the resur rection. When he left them they were dejected, sorrowful, disillusioned; when he saw them again they were alert, joy ful, positive. What made the change? They had seen the Son of God risen from the dead. Christ is still at work transforming lives. Every true believer is a convincing proof of the fact of the resurrection and the truthfulness of the Christian faith. 2. Doubt should be Doubted Because Doubts About Christ Are Terribly Destructive Doubts About Christ Rob a Man of Salvation Salvation comes through faith in Christ as the divine Saviour. Apart from full surrender of heart and mind to Christ a man cannot be saved (John 1:12; 3:16; 3:36; Acts 16:31; Rom. 10:9-10). Doubts About Christ Rob a Man of Peace When the risen Saviour appeared in the upper room to His disciples He pro nounced the benediction of peace upon them (John 20:19). Thomas was not there. He missed this blessing until the next Lord’s Day when Jesus appeared to the assembled disciples, Thomas being present (v. 26). Doubt About Christ will Rob a Man of Joy “Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord” (v.20). But Thomas was not there. What a happy thing it is to believe on Christ. The Christian who fully trusts the Saviour is a happy man. Doubt About Christ will Rob a Man of Power Conviction concerning the facts of the Christian faith give a man strength and power to witness for Christ and to live for Christ daily. Doubt About Christ will Rob a Man of His Influence No one will listen to a man who is full of doubts about his faith. But everyone will listen to the man who knows what he believes and why.
