on heart and mind in such a way that the illumination the Holy Spirit had given would never be forgotten but would be made a part of my experience and being. While the blessing was from the Lord and to Him belongs the thanks and praise, yet He was pleased to use BIOLA and its faith ful, devoted leaders and teachers to mediate His blessings. They were Godly “ ensamples.” How much the spiritual help received there was to be needed I little realized then. The stress of missionary service in China and the years in the Lord’s service for China here at home have been demanding, with much of failure, but through BIOLA I had been given a grounding in the Word of God and had been led to the source of cleansing and renewing. The friendships formed then with fellow-students and faculty have remained our richest and most treasured.

“ For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalm 107:9. God did just that for me, the Bible Institute of Los Angeles being the human instrumentality. I was just a young Christian when there appeared in one of the Los Angeles newspapers a big write-up about the new thirteen- story building then being erected at Sixth and Hope Streets, the new home of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. As I read that article I said to myself, “ I’d like to go to that school and study the Bible.” Later, I met some of the students and a member of the faculty. Through these my desire was strengthened and deepened. There was a manifest devotion to the person of the Lord Jesus in their testimony and lives. There was a positiveness and assurance about their faith in Him and His Word which challenged and warmed my heart. By the time I was privileged to enter BIOLA, a couple of years later, my missionary purpose was already formed. I used to go out from some of the classes with heart aglow, wanting to get alone to worship Him who only is “ alto gether lovely,” and to ask that the lessons might be written BIOLA Trains Missionaries For nearly 45 years the Bible Institute of Los Angeles has been a school to train missionaries. From our class rooms they have gone forth into the uttermost parts of the world where today they are preaching and teaching the message of life. Today BIOLA is equipped better than ever before to prepare young people for world-wide missionary service. No Tuition Charged As from the very beginning, The Bible Institute of Los Angeles accepts and trains young people for Christian serv ice without charging them for tuition. Our expenses are met by the free will gifts of the people of God everywhere. Any of God’s stewards who desire to “ sponsor” a student may do so by a gift of $200.00 a year. However, any gift large or small is gratefully received. Write for further information.
