INSTALLATION

69

W2W

Always lay all the rolls in the same direction. Avoid crosscut seams and use transition profiles if this can not be prevented. When laying several rolls in the same room, the rolls must be the same batch. To obtain the best results, 48 acclimatization is advised and during installation the temperature should not be lower than 15 degrees Celsius and relative humidity not higher than 80%. Seams To cut the seams, trim the first carpet lane 2mm from a line or the trip of the design with a straightedge. The first lane is laid over the second lane and serves, as after matching the design, as a guide to cut the second lane and serves, after matching the design, as a guide to cut the second strip. Seams in references with an all over design can be double cut. Adhesive application The carpet is to be bonded to the entire surface using suggested glue. Certain glues cause plasticizer migration often resulting in claims; these are nit covered by our warranty. (We suggest Mapei glue for installation). Respect the processing instructions of the manufacturer or contact your supplier. Fold the lanes back over half of their length or (width) draw a line as start for the glue application. Lay the floor in the wet glue and rub with a cork beam from the center to the edges to remove all air bubbles. It is important to close the seams very well. During the drying time of the glue indoor conditions have to remain constant.

Introduction

The weave of WISE will not run parallel to the cut edge, therefore any wave, bow or skew in the products is normal due to the way of woven. The tolerance for bow and skew is max 3,8cm (1,5 width) or 5cm (2m width) in either direction. Some patterns will also exhibit a light and dark shading in the material, that is also normal. This shading is also evident at the seams where two pieces of the same style may have a different shade. You may find some white threads going out of border, this normal occurrence, simply cut them with a scissor, it will not affect product quality and total appearance.

Installation

Sub floor preparation The floor need to be clean, flat, no crack and oil stain free, pressure resistant and durable dry. Appropriate preparation is essential for a good result. The surface is treated with a primer, followed by the application of a leveling compound. This compound is grinded and vacuum cleaned. Take heed, depending on the construction of the floor, of the allowed residual humidity and possible rising moisture. If necessary, apply a damp screen.

Floor preparation Roll the WISE floor covering out, overlapping for about 5 cm and leave 24 to acclimatize.

70

Welding of the seams (joints)

For soil 90% of all dirt in a building comes in on footwear. For this reason, it is strongly recommended to install and maintain an entrance matting at all the entrance outdoors. For daily cleaning: It depends on soiling and the traffic frequency. Stains should always be removed as soon as possible in order to avoid penetration into the floor/wall covering. For daily maintenance Just wring the dry mop before using. Use clean, warm water. If you have used a cleaning agent, rinse the floor afterwards and leave the surface dry thoroughly. Alternatively, use vacuum. Preferably choose rotating brushes, neither beater bar, nor vapor cleaner. For periodic cleaning, please get help from a professional cleaning company.

It is necessary to weld the seams, we suggest to use a cold welding system of the Werner Mueller brand, type A.

Installation glue proposal: Mapei

Initial use

It is advised not use the floor covering before the glue has hardened completely.

During the drying time of the glue indoor conditions have to remain constant. It is absolutely necessary cover the floor immediately after its installation to prevent soiling and damage.

Use cleaning agent only if needed.

Occasionally you can use acetone, citrus, Pine-Sol, strongly alkaline cleaning agents, scouring powder or strong solvents, but using them too often will damage the floor. Please try to use cleaning agents PG value around 7-8 often. Rinse and mop with at least one additional clean water rinse after applying detergent, as detergent residue will attract soil if not properly rinsed.

After 12hours start initial cleaning After 24hours start simple traffic After 48hours start charging with furniture

Cleaning after installation

After laying Construction dust (sand gypsum) is very abrasive. It should be removed to avoid the danger of creating premature walking lanes. After vacuum cleaning, the whole surface is wet cleaned with an injection extraction machine.

TILES

Renovation projects

All remainders of previous floor covering must be removed carefully. Whenever necessary, cracks and clefts should be filled before the floor is treated with a bicomponent primer. Check sub floor on possible rising moisture and, if necessary, apply a damp screen. Apply afterwards a self levelling compound. Levelled and grinded surfaces are essential for perfect an optical result.

WISE is made of PVC and fiberglass and is therefore perfectly cleanable with water and detergent. Most stains are easily and quickly removable, in contrast with other types of textile floorcoverings. A good maintenance guarantees, not only an increased life expectancy, a perfect hygiene and a better aesthetic but also far better appearance retention in time. General Information The WISE floorcovering needs to be installed by a professional installer. WISE will not be responsible for poor workmanship or problems due to improper installation. Tiles are the most appropriate floor covering for raised floors since they can also be removed. Sub-Floor Preparation An appropriate preparation is essential for a perfect and long lasting result. The floor has to be clean, crack free, greaseproof, pressure- resistant and permanently dry. The WISE tiles can not be fitted on old textile subfloors. In new constructions Treat the surface with primer. Apply afterwards a self levelling compound, 24 hours prior to installation. This compound is then grinded and vacuum cleaned. Take heed, depending on construction of the floor, of the allowed residual humidity and possible rising moisture. If necessary, apply a damp screen as a moisture barrier.

Installing WISE

Stocking the tiles and material check

Before installation, tiles are to be kept in the original packing and original pallet. The boxes should be stored flat, in straight piles of maximum 12 boxes. To avoid damages, 2 pallets should never be piled up. Acclimatisation The following indoor climate conditions are to be met: a floor temperature of at least 15°C (60°F), a room temperature between 18°C (65°F) and 25° (77°F) and a relative humidity of the air not to exceed 75%. Allow the tiles a period of at least 48 hours to adapt to the temperature in the room before installation.

Types Of Installation

The recommended fitting patterns are as below:

72

Quarterturn

Ashlar

Brick

Finish by installing the perimeter cuts (Image 4):

Prior to installation Check each tile for visual defects prior to installing or cutting. Otherwise notify WISE before proceeding with installation. Adhensive-PU sealer application The tiles do not require the use of a permanent bond adhesive. The Wise tiles should be installed with a peel up adhesive. The adhesive should be perfectly dried (transparent color) before fitting otherwise permanent adhesion may occur. Application of PU sealer (Dr. Schutz recommended) is obligatory for the proper maintenance of the product and product’s guarantee. Installation fitting method Start with one tile in a doorway on the parting of the rooms. Draw a line parallel to the wall starting from this tile. Draw a second line at a distance of a few tiles, at right angles to the first line. (Image 1) Apply the peel up adhesive, leave it to dry completely and start again from the doorway. (Image 2) Install the next tile firmly in the corner formed by the previously fitted tile. (Image 3)

– Put the border tile to be cut (2) on the tile which is fitted last (1) – Push a tile against the wall (3) – Cut the border tile (2) along tile (3) – Install the border tile (2) cut to measure

Additional fitting instructions

Attention: Some visible white glass fibers may be apparent at the sides of each tile at the seams. We advise to brush or rub away these fibers with a damp cloth before installation.

GENERAL TIPS

– If castor chairs are used, it is recommended to use hard castors in polyamide. – Rubber materials (e.g. car tires) can affect the colour of WISE in case of long term contract. It is therefore advisable to provide special protection in case of frequent contact with rubber materials. – We don’t advise the use of WISE tiles for outdoor applications.

– WISE is suitable for floor heating.

– Once the installation has been completed the surface should be protected particularly if the area is to be used by other trades during final finishing. For any questions in that respect our Technical Services Department will be pleased to assist you.

Adhesive

Generally Tekfix Plus, though depends on substrate.

Hanging Exact pattern matching is vital, and the product is marked with guide lines for this purpose. The product should not be reverse hung. Apply adhesive to wall surface. Carefully smooth wallcovering onto wall surface using a spatula. Note that allowance will have been made for trimming top and bottom to compensate for uneven walls. Overlap lengths using the crop marks at top/bottom as a guide, and visually match image. Adjust position if necessary to achieve optimum pattern match. Double cut through using a sharp blade, cutting perpendicularly to wall surface to ensure a clean join. Use a seam roller to ensure product is well bonded at the join. Remove any adhesive seepage immediately with warm water. Maintenance Wise Vinyl Wall-covering with non woven fabric backing are wipeable and washable, and offer some resistance to knocks. With regular cleaning they will retain their original appearance for many years depending on area of use. Always carry out a trial in an inconspicuous area first, to ensure cleaning agent suitable. Avoid polishes, abrasive cleaners, solvent or bleach-based cleaners as these will damage the print and vinyl. Slight or moderate soiling can be removed using a combination of mild non-soapy detergent and
