SPORTSMANSHIP BUILDS CHARACTER

1. Offer praise and encouragement, even if your child makes a mistake. 2. Offer constructive criticism and help your child practice skills. 3. Remember that your child is playing the sport, not you. 4. Try not to impose your goals or standards on your young- ster. 5. Applaud good plays by both teams. 6. Give a compliment when your youngster shows good sportsmanship. 7. Emphasize “having fun is number one”. 8. Don’t yell at coaches, referees or players. This sets a poor example.

9. Never try to take the place of the coach or referee. 10. Avoid blaming the refs, the weather or anyone else if your child’s team loses.
