On the basis of (UE) 2016/425 Directive, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall mean any device or appliance designed to be worn or held by an individual to protect himself against one or more health and safety hazards, as well as any accessory or ensemble designed so as to be a component of a personal protective equipment. CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

CATEGORY II

CATEGORY III

CATEGORY I

PPE of simple design, intended to safeguard the individual from minimal risks, whose gradual effects may be perceived on time and without permanent consequences to the user who is able to understand the effectiveness of the protection provided by the PPE.

PPE of complex design intended to protect against mortal danger or against dangers that may seriously and irreversibly harm the health, of the user. Under this category are grouped those PPE intended to provide protection against short circuit electric arc.

PPE that do not belong to the other two categories.
