Why did you volunteer to be a Wellbeing Officer? I volunteered because mental health and wellbeing are causes close to my heart. I have experienced, first-hand, the importance of a conversation. I think the Wellbeing Office role is a really important one, as it provides friends, colleagues, even strangers with a more informal way to seek help before getting professional assistance. What are some of the ways we can challenge stigma around mental health? I am a firm believer in having champions for positive mental health and public examples of vulnerability – this helps break down the stigma. That’s why I appreciate it every time I see a celebrity or public figure talk about their mental health.
What do you do to look after your wellbeing? I do my best to talk about my feelings and struggles to my friends and family. I also try to exercise regularly as I feel this definitely helps maintain the best mental wellbeing I can. What are your book or podcast recommendations on the topic of mental health? All In The Mind (Podcast). Bunch of different topics – deep dives the science and psychology of social issues and mental health.
