Why did you volunteer to be a Wellbeing Officer?

Law can be a stressful profession and finding someone objective to talk to is often the first hurdle. Knowing that there is help available from us as Wellbeing Officers should provide reassurance that we are an organisation that invests in our people and their mental health. How do you promote positive mental health practices? I am always open with my team and make it clear that they should be too – if anyone has anything preventing them from being able to work, I’d like them to feel able to come to me for guidance. I leave on time to pick my daughter up and there have been times that I’ve had to leave early when she’s sick. There doesn’t need to be a work ‘face’ that pretends family commitments don’t exist. We can be professional and vulnerable at the same time.
