Why did you volunteer to be a Wellbeing Officer? I volunteered to be a Wellbeing Officer because working in the legal industry is hard. We are all human experiencing the highs and lows of life and we won’t survive the journey if we don’t support each other. Why should we look after our physical and mental wellbeing? We owe it to ourselves to experience, love and help others as much as possible. Life is short but it is also very long. What are some of the ways we can challenge the stigma of mental health? Change comes from top-down. Partners, management and senior Lawyers I want to hear your stories unfiltered. I want hear about the ugly cries, existential crises, breakdowns and the path to recovery and victory. If you share yours, I will share mine.
What do you do to look after your wellbeing? • Mindfulness • Meditation
• Ask for help when necessary • Lean on family and friends • Spend time with my animals. What are your book or podcast recommendations on the topic of mental health? There is a lot of self-help resources available out. I can’t recommend one or the other because it is about what resonates with you. For those moments of pensive thoughts, I would say the following novels have shaped my life: • “Seagulls” by Johnathon Livingston • “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom • “Of mice and men” by John Steinback.
