Why did you volunteer to be a Wellbeing Officer?

What do you do to look after your wellbeing? During stressful work days, I take time to step away from my desk and walk around the block or call a friend. Outside of work, I love doing Pilates and going for walks listening to a podcast – this makes me feel calm and energised.

As a newly admitted lawyer, maintaining physical and mental wellbeing in a high- pressure, fast-paced work environment is important to me for career longevity. I am motivated to help my colleagues, particularly fellow young lawyers, achieve the same. Why should we look after our physical and mental wellbeing? It will make you feel happier, calmer, and more balanced – a benefit to both your personal and professional lives. What are some of the ways we can challenge stigma around mental health? Talking about it! Sharing how you feel with others (the good, the bad and the ugly) makes others feel less alone and encouraged to share how they are feeling themselves.
