Why did you volunteer to be a Wellbeing Officer? I volunteered to be a wellbeing officer

wellbeing of others, particularly those that you know have done it tough recently, will slowly but surely make discussing or even acknowledging the topic of mental health less of a taboo. What do you do to look after your wellbeing? An individual’s needs in order to maintain their wellbeing will vary from person to person, but for me there are a few key areas I need to maintain stay happy and healthy. Remaining true to myself and my own needs, communicating those needs to others, and trusting my ‘gut’ are probably the most important. A healthy Work/Life and Me Time/Others Time balance is also integral. Also I try not to let numbers dictate my self- worth or happiness, such as those on my bank balance, scales or my age. Oh, and drink plenty of water, get lots of sleep, wear sunscreen and move that body!

because I strongly believe in the merits of this programme and the positive effects it could have on our staff. Talking openly about your mental health struggles does not come easily to most people, and as someone who has had issue in the pasts themselves and has also had family and friends who I have spoken to about their own hardships, I really welcome the opportunity to be able to point people in the right direction and give them a chance to talk things out. What are some of the ways we can challenge stigma around mental health?
