A stranger wearing a silk top hat stepped up to a serviceman, extended his hand and said: “How are you, soldier?” Corporal Horrise D. Crownover took the proffered hand and felt something pressed into his palm. The stranger smiled and disappeared into the mid-Manhattan crowd. Crownover opened his hand and dis covered a $100 bill! Thrilling as that may have been, we know another Stranger who will enrich you far beyond the value of a $100 bill, if you will clasp His nail-pierced hand in faith. “ Behold, the Lord’s hand is not short ened, that it cannot save” (Isa. 59:1). But if you do not accept His outstretch ed hand, you are refusing Him as your Savior! Clasp His hand and say: Wounded for me! Yes, wounded for me, There on the cross He was wounded for me; Gone my transgressions and now I am free, All because Jesus was wounded for me! In addition to salvation you will dis cover that He will guide you from earth to glory by “the skilfulness of his hands” (Psalm 78:72). He has promised: “ I will never, never let go your hand: I will never, never forsake you. So that we fearlessly say, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid: What can man do to me?” (He brews 13:5-6 Weymouth). —Tom Olson in Now Within this awful volume lies The mystery of mysteries; And better had they ne’er been born Than read to doubt or read to scorn. —Sir Walter Scott
