King's Business - 1951-11

They rejoiced because the God of Heaven had sent them the Great Shepherd of the sheep to guide and direct them both here and hereafter. They rejoiced be cause they realized how blessedly and wonderfully the eternal God was think ing of them and caring enough for them to send to them His only begotten Son. They rejoiced because they knew God had visited His people and revealed Himself in human form and made Him self available to their hearts for every need of their lives. The People Rejoiced in His Birth Luke 2:18 God is no respecter of persons. This wonderful Saviour was to be available for every people of every nation. For this reason all the people rejoiced and praised God. They rejoiced because God met all the needs of sin-cursed people everywhere by sending the One who could meet those needs. They rejoiced because they could see with their own eyes this Saviour and hear with their own ears the message concerning His wonderful service and ministry. They

might well rejoice. This Saviour would make them fit for Heaven and then bring them to God.

Dec. 30, 1951 NOW IS THE TIME Eph. 6:10-20

The armor described in this passage is really a beautiful picture in symbol of the Lord Jesus. The helmet of sal vation repredents Christ who is our sal vation. The breastplate of righteousness represents Christ who is our righteous ness. The feet shod represent the gospel concerning His Son. The shield of faith is about faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The girdle of truth is about Christ who is the truth. The sword of the Spirit is about the Scripture which testifies of Christ. Thus we are told, “ Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 13:14). If we put Him on we are protected from the enemy and we become aggressive, useful Christians. We Need the Armor For There Are Enemies The existence of a fire plug proves there is danger of fire. The existence of a life preserver proves there is danger of drowning. The existence of this armor proves there are enemies who attack the head, the heart, and the feet of the believer. Satan is no friend of the Christian. His whole intention is to wreck and ruin the believer’s life. He knows he cannot keep the Christian out of Heaven so he tries to cause him to reach Heaven as a wreck. The Lord knew this and provided the helmet for the mind, the breastplate for the heart, the shoes for^ the walk, and the shield for the soul. We Need the Armor For There Are Battles Those who are really saved may ex pect plenty of trouble in their lives. Those who really want to walk with God will find that Satan is an expert in filling the road with impediments and hindrances. Those who would like to be friendly will find many who oppose. The conflict is of a threefold character. The world attacks us and would like to take us from the Father. The flesh at tacks us and takes us from the Holy Spirit. The devil attacks us and tries to take us from the Son of God. These three battles continue from the begin ning to the end of life. We Need the Armor For We Need Protection The existence of the armor suggests at once our own inability and ineffi ciency. If we were able in ourselves to win the victory we would not have this provision from Heaven. Our weakness is seen and known by the living Lord. Our own danger is known by Him, therefore He provides the remedy that is sufficient both for defense and of fense. We learn to handle the Scripture T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S
