SARA COOPER

JANE GRIMWOOD

Sara Cooper, PhD , is a faculty investigator at the HudsonAlpha Insti- tute for Biotechnology. Her research focuses on understanding mecha- nisms of cancer pathol- ogy, progression, and chemoresistance to help personalize cancer diag- nosis and treatment. She also leads the Institute’s Information is Power Initiative, a community outreach effort that of- fers free or reduced-cost genetic risk screening for men and women across Alabama.

Jane Grimwood, PhD , is a faculty investigator at the HudsonAlpha In- stitute for Biotechnology and a co-director of the HudsonAlpha Genome Sequencing Center. She focuses on sequencing, finishing, and genome improvement of many eukaryotic genomes, including plants, fungi, and vertebrates.

ALEX HARKESS

ANDREW KODANI

Alex Harkess, PhD , is a faculty investigator at the HudsonAlpha Insti- tute for Biotechnology. His research focuses on understanding the genetics underlying plant reproduction and flowering, a process that is central to most of the food that we eat. Un- derstanding the genes that control flowers can increase the yields of major crop species that produce food and prod- ucts like fiber and oil.

Andrew Kodani, PhD , is a faculty investigator at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnolo- gy. His research focuses on understanding the fundamental basis of brain development and neurodevelopmental diseases. His lab studies how mutations in critical developmental genes lead to catastrophic pediatric neurodevelop- mental diseases.
