Landry’s, Inc. Family Concepts Partnering With The Crayon Initiative Houston – Landry’s concepts, The Aquarium, Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex Cafe, are partnering with The Crayon Initiative to help collect unwanted crayons that will be transformed into new art supplies for children’s in-hospital art programs. The restaurants will be placing collection boxes at each of their locations across the country. Each of the restaurants encourage customers to discard their used crayons that accompany children’s menus into the Crayon Initiative collection box following their meal. Once the box is filled, the crayons will be sent to The Crayon Initiative to be melted down and remanufactured. The concepts join other Landry’s restaurant, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., who started its partnership in March 2016. Launched in 2011, The Crayon Initiative collects and refurbishes the unwanted crayons from restaurants that would otherwise be discarded in landfills. The remanufactured crayons are then donated to children’s hospitals’ art programs that help kids continue normal childhood development, enhance problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and promote creativity and imagination.
