lick pet person Animal Chat “More”

Barbara Lazaroff is such an amazing and beautiful person, I don’t know where to begin? To me, she is “The Queen of Beverly Hills” and the original “Real Housewife of Beverly Hills”..but smarter and classier! Barbara is the interior designer and co creator of the world famous Spago (with her ex husband Chef Wolfgang Puck) and a myriad of delectable upscale restaurants. Tireless, dedicated, and compassionate in whatever she chooses to do; from her endeavors in philanthropy, restaurants, interior designing, public speaking, humanitarian causes, her family, animals, etc, she gets the job done...and she does it with love, too. Barbara is an avid animal lover. She loves all kinds of animals and has owned and owns Llamas, dogs, cats, birds, and so many more. She told me her dream would be to own a ranch so she could have many animals but for now Casa Lazaroff in Beverly Hills is home to her and her family of pets. I met Barbara a few years ago at The Taste Awards in Beverly Hills and I asked her to be my next Animal Chat interview because of her extreme love for animals. Would you believe she just got kittens the day before Easter? Awww, you gotta love her!

In a closing email response to me she wrote, “Catwoman to Catman you’re a good soul”. So cool! DD: When did you first know you were an animal lover and what kind of pets did you own? BL: I knew I loved animals since I was a young child. Since we were working class, we lived in small confined areas and I never had an opportunity for a pet and I love animals. We lived in very small apartments in the Bronx and then Queens. I really just had only one pet as a child and I only had it for a week and it was a small German Shepherd puppy that somebody had asked my mother that we would take in and I absolute fell in love with immediately and we named the puppy Champ. DD: How did you come to own Llamas? BL: At that age of seven, I fell in love with Llamas. I told my mother that I was never getting married and I was going to have a Llama and I was going to live in a big house in Connecticut and have two Rolls Royces in the driveway. I do not know why. My mother apparently told me she laughed a lot at my saying this. So I grew up and I did get married (and I got divorced). I had two Llamas and I don’t have a house in Connecticut but I have one here in Beverly Hills and I have no interest in having two Rolls Royces in the driveway. DD: You’re such a busy woman and you do so many things. You’re an icon to many and to me you’re like the Queen of Beverly Hills. So how do you find the time to care for your animals? BL: First of all, I’m a very lucky person. I raised my kids with caretakers because I was always busy, flying places, etc. but would find time at night to help them with their homework. I would never, ever have considered having as many pets as I had or have unless there were people here all the time. There’s never a time that my home is empty whether it be me, my partner, housekeeper, or caretakers. My house is never without somebody in it, so I would never leave an animal in my home alone. DD: Any advice you can share to pet owners?
