Lick Celebrates Our Special "Taste of G Girl" Sneak Peek Teaser Edition featuring our Gal Pal and Event Diva Extraordinaire "Ms. Laura Gianna!"
We are like long lost friends! We are both New Yorkers. We went to the same school. The same major. Both families were in the same business. Heck, Laura even sang at my sisters cabaret 20 plus years ago!! Coincidence? I think not! But most importantly, the thing we have in common is our Love for Pets! This Special Issue features Laura as cover looking back at her childhood with a glimpse at the lady that made it all happen “Mom”. We take you from Laura at 3 with her first pup to a pet reality pictorial of Ms G and her cast of real life characters from hubby Gus (the ex-Armani model), to Phyllis her wing gal (the “Enforcer”), with a heart of gold, to the zany and wonderful ladies that make “G Girl” the special event company that it is. We delve into a taste of exciting shows on the pet fashion runway always done with heart and for a charitable cause. Laura does events from West Palm Beach to Virginia Beach and now NYC! Next stop Beverly Hills!! Here she comes! 15 Thank you girlfriend. For all the beautiful things you do for pets and for people. Here’s to your continued incredible success! To know you is to love you,
G-Girl Productions! 17
Guess who’s coming to the Big Apple in 2018?
We had the pleasure of meeting "Ms. G" through our mutual pet radio buddy Mr. Jack Herbert of WPETTALKRADIO fame. Jack fixed Laura and I up as though we were on a date a year ago at the Global Pet Expo in Florida. I walked into the restaurant and I took one look at her and she took one look at me and it was “love” at first sight.

Shannon Barnard grew up a cat lover with her childhood cat, Henry. About 30 years ago, her husband suggested they “look at” a friend’s litter of English Cocker Spaniels. Of course, they came home with a puppy and that’s all it took to turn Shannon into a dog mom for life. Shannon’s entry into the pet industry came about a dozen years ago when she was looking for a creative outlet and came upon a pattern for dog and cat collars. She designed a website around those creations and “K9 Bytes – Gifts for Pets and Pet Lovers” was born.
This was a perfect fit with Shannon’s affection for pets and her desire to create. What started as a hobby grew into a business where she gets to make products she loves. It brings her great delight to help pet parents celebrate the joy of their pets with handcrafted dog and cat collars, leashes, treats, and toys. Each item K9 Bytes creates is infused with love. From sharing with friends, to offering the product line to boutiques and stores, K9 Bytes has become a fun venture where Shannon is able to develop relationships with repeat customers and boutique owners. “Year of the Dog, “What Kind Of Dog Are You Anyway?”
So since we “usually” cavort with those “like us”.. My question is simple food or “kibble” for thought-- What kind of Dog are “You”! This is Year of the Dog in the 2018 Chinese Lunar New Year. Wipin has coined it the “Year of You!” so .. Think About It.. There is a reason you are in the pet business. The secret is out of the bag! YOU Really Are a Dog. Aren’t you? Take a look: Which Breed fits “your” characteristics? What Breed is your best friend? Which do you hang out with? What Breed do you work with? Who Do you Love Baby? In Business, Friendship and Romance-- What “Dog” Do YOU Put On? Check out some of the specific personality characteristics of WIPIN’S Dog Friends listed. These touch on just a few types of dogs within Standardized Breed Categories. These are some of my favorites. Find yours! Have fun! Reflect on the “Year of the Dog” and get in touch with “YOUR Real Dog.” No need for Putting On the Dog. Just BE the Dog You REALly Are.
“You know you are a Dog don’t you?” “Yeah, ‘you’. I’m talking to ‘you’. Don’t tell me ‘no’!” “You sleep with that damn dog, confide in him.. ‘Who ate that extra piece of cake?’ ‘Not me!’ After all, ‘Who’s he going to tell?’ ‘You feel closer to your pet then you do to your ‘significant other’!” “Who’s there for you no matter what?” You girls know that your dog is your truest, closest friend. He certainly is a willing companion no matter where or when you want to go wherever! For some, your dogs are additional children in the household. For some, your dog(s) has/have replaced the human children that have grown up and for the most part “flown the coop!” For others their “furry children” are the only “children” they have ever known. And for others their dogs undying love, acceptance and adulation competes with the love the human parent feels for their very own flesh and blood children. Why? Because Dogs, like GOD, are always there! They are something “Special!” 70 Billion $ plus Pet Industry Annual Dollars for 2018 SPECIAL.
Year of You” by Barbara Jayne

lick pet person LESLIE JORDAN & DANIEL DICRISCIO
“Will and Grace is back on the air and all the characters we have loved, laughed with and missed have returned to our lives and TV’s! Will, Jack, Grace, Karen... and Beverly Leslie! “ Leslie Jordan (aka Beverly Leslie) is such a talented, funny, and memorable Emmy award winning actor and playwright who has such an immense and respectable resume. Leslie won an Emmy for his work on “Will and Grace”! It’s that face and diminutive stature ...that adorably intoxicating southern accent.... and his legendary dry sarcastic bantering with Karen Walker (Megan Mullally) and cast that has the viewers sitting on the edge of their seats, cracking up with laughter, just waiting to hear those funny one liner comebacks! You may have also seen Leslie on such TV shows as Celebrity Big Brother, American Horror Story, Sordid Lives and so many more.... plus books, talk show appearances, and his live shows you may begin to wonder where this tiny dynamo gets all his energy considering his career has spanned decades and there’s no sign of stopping anytime in the future . Fun Fact: Leslie and I both co-starred in a funny music video that was from one of his Celebrity Big Brother house-mates. One thing about Leslie that is so admirable is his love for animals. I recently met Leslie and his beautiful dog, Beauregard, on a walk New Years Eve day and amid our chit chat I was so taken by his love for his dog that I asked him to be my next celebrity “Animal Chat”. Leslie obliged with his sweet southern charm and as you can see in the photo for this interview, so did Beauregard! In true Leslie Jordan fashion ...or was it Beverly Leslie, lol, ...when I was taking our selfie photo with Beau too, Leslie said in his trademark drawl regarding our pic, ”Oh My, it looks like a photo from Vogue Magazine!” Leslie’s the sweetest ever! You gotta love him...and it’s clear the public agrees and adores him!
Daniel DiCriscio: Leslie, have you always had pets and was your family into pets as well while you were growing up? Leslie Jordan: You know, Daniel, growing up we always had pets. Dogs and cats. I remember cats always having kittens back then. Once behind the washing machine and we didn’t even know she was pregnant. I remember my first dog was Scamper was hit by a car. It was devastating. But there were always turtles, goldfish, mice and even baby chickens at Easter. Having pets is a great way to teach kids responsibility. When I was four, I got a pony. After that, it was always horses! I even was an Exercise Rider for thoroughbred race horses in my early 20’s. DD: Would you consider yourself a Dog or a Cat person and why? LJ: I am definitely a dog person. I love cats but I have always had dogs as an adult. DD: How did you find your current gorgeous dog Beauregard and what kind of breed is he?
Leslie Jordan, Daniel DiCriscio & Beauregard
Animal Chat LJ: My current dog came to me from a homeless guy. I would see him around Starbucks and walking the neighborhood. The dog is a wonderful Lab/Malamute mix. All the characteristics of a Lab but with a black, long silky coat. I gave the homeless guy my phone number in case he ever needed someone to foster the dog. He called one day and said he could no longer look after the dog. It was a heart wrenching decision. He had the dog since he was a pupply. So we met at The Post Office on Beverly. Beauregard was well taken care of but really old. He was twelve then. He is such a sweet, well-mannered old dog. The homeless guy is still in Beau’s life. He comes by weekly and takes Beau to the park. So Beau does not in anyway think he was abandoned. It was an amazing transition. DD: Do you consider Beauregard a family member, child, pet, or? Also, Does Beau go on set and travel with you?
LJ: Daniel, I think of Beauregard as family. It is extremely difficult to leave him. But with my job, I travel quite a bit. I do acting jobs out of town and also I am on the gay stand- up comedy circuit. I have a dear friend who stays with Beau. There is no way I could take him with me. He weighs a hundred pounds and has trouble getting around. I sometimes think that Beau likes my friend who stays with him better than me as my friend loves to get down and wrestle with Beau. They roughhouse and roll all over the place. I’m more the “toss the ball and you go get it” kind of owner. DD: So tell us what’s going on in the iconic Leslie Jordan’s world, I see you are back on Will & Grace and funny as ever! You have also been on so many other shows like American Horror Story, Celebrity Big Brother, Sordid Lives, etc, so anything new in the future we should lookout for? LJ: So I am currently working some on the reboot of “Will and Grace.” I have also written “the book” for a musical called “GLORY! GLORY!” which is having a Staged Reading in Jackson, Mississippi next month. We hope to get the show to Broadway. But what a journey that has turned out to be. I also have a TV series that only airs in The UK. It is called “Living The Dream.” It airs on SKY TV. We have been picked up for a second season. We shoot in Spain! So it looks to be a good year for Leslie Jordan and his faithful companion, Beauregard. DD: Fabulous!...and Thank you Leslie!

Available on Amazon The Scouting Dog’s Guide to Everything celebrates the things that make life better, connecting people to people through their pets. Writer/artist Lola Teigland brings her unique skill-set(7th Avenue designer, Nipon & Dior / pro writer, 10+ years)to the world of dog through this fun and engaging handbook.
“Experiencing a dog’s loyalty, forgiveness and unconditional love makes us better people. It has made me a better person, and lead me to do what I do. I make pop culture pet parodies–––memes, live pet fashion events and videos–––mimicking humanity from a dog’s point of view. This book is part of that.”
TOTAL CAT MOJO: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO LIFE WITH YOUR CAT BY JACKSON GALAXY
This comprehensive cat care guide from the star of the hit Animal Planet show “My Cat from Hell,” Jackson Galaxy, shows us how to eliminate feline behavioral problems by understanding cats’ instinctive behavior. Cat Mojo is the confidence that cats exhibit when they are at ease in their environment and in touch with their natural instincts—to hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom, and sleep. Problems such as litter box avoidance and aggression arise when cats lack this confidence. Jackson Galaxy’s number one piece of advice to his clients is to help their cats harness their mojo. This book is his most comprehensive guide yet to cat behavior and basic cat care, rooted in understanding cats better. From getting kittens off to the right start socially, to taking care of cats in their senior years, and everything in between, this book addresses the head-to-toe physical and emotional needs of cats—whether related to grooming, nutrition, play, or stress- free trips to the vet.

“Laura Gianna
in the beginning
Little Laura "G" & Mom
cover story
by Barbara Jayne G Girls” Lick Magazine: Laura, Lick Magazine has dedicated an entire issue to you because you are a force to be reckoned with in the most positive and incredible way. Inquiring minds want to know, “Why Pets?”
Even at the age of 3 I already knew my calling of strutting our stuff as mommy and fur baby throughout Elizabeth, NJ. LM: It seems that this visual of you as an adorable tot just a few years old with the doggie in the baby stroller foretells your future. Was getting into the pet business by plan or accident?
Laura Gianna: My first love was musical theater. Unfortunately, my vocal cords were damaged after an operation and I could no longer sing. Enter into my life the fabulous “Gianna” my fur baby. I channeled all of my creativity into entering small scale fur baby contests for rescues and hospice work. After several years of always winning they kindly asked me to stop entering the contests. Please come and support only. LM: How did you develop a special connection with animals and in the hearts of those that strut the pet fashion runway across the USA?! LG: I developed a bond with animals because they love you unconditionally and don’t ask for much in return. I have a special connection with animals and those that strut their stuff on the runway because G Girl is a family.
LG: Accident.
LM: Why “G” Girls? What’s in a name?
LG: “G Girl” was chosen because it was named after my dog, “Gianna” and no one was doing these kinds of events in country clubs. It is a neutral name and no one would ever suspect it was a fur baby event until after I landed an upscale venue.
LM: Tell us about “Gianna?”
LG: “Gianna” is the wind beneath my wings. She is my inspiration and my heart fur baby. She is the best of our G Girl Family. Included in the G Girl family are not only my own fur babies but the fur babies of my entourage. My fur babies include “Little Gabriella,” the “Little G Girl” who “Gianna” is grooming to one day take over the title position of “G Girl.” We also have “Leonardo” the singing Pawvarotti, “Gisella,” the class clown who really does not like to venture out. All of my babies are rescues.
LM: Who was your first pet? LG: My first fur baby was a black Poodle.
LM: Was it the doggie in the stroller photo?
LG: Yes. LM: Tell us about this wonderful vintage photo. LG: His name was Alex and he was named after “Alexander Hamilton.”
LM: When did you start?
LG: I started in the fur baby world 12 years ago and G Girl came to be 7 years ago just for fun and the LLC was created almost 4 years ago. 113
LM: What is your mission?
LG: There is no one in the country that does what I do. The ladies call it the G Girl Formula. They call me the Walt Disney of the fur baby community. LM: Tell us about the charitable side of the equation and who benefits. LG: That varies from state to state, as we pick a new charity in each state where the event will be held.
LG: G Girl’s mission is to go from state to state and eventually Canada and beyond to bring awareness to the needs of rescues worldwide. We only have one life and I want to make a difference by being the voice of the voiceless.
LM: Who attends your events?
LG: Demographics are 7 years of age to 70 years of age and above. The only requirement is to love fur babies.
LM: How can readers attend a future event?
LG: By following us on Lick Magazine and G Girl Productions, Facebook, Twitter, etc. LM: Can you tell us when and where your next G Girl event destination will be? LG: Our April event was at the Founders Inn, in Virginia Beach, VA hosted by the Royal BB Girls. LM: What does BB stand for? LG: “Lady Blu Blu Hopper” and her “Royal Highness Bree,” the dogs of the Virginia Beach Event Hostess Regina Stafford. Our August event is at the New Yorker Hotel in Midtown Manhattan and will be our biggest event ever. The 5th annual International Cotillion 2018 is a two-day event being held both nights in the The New Yorker Grand Ballroom. We are wowed and appreciative that the “New York Times” has committed to live streaming our event to Its’ 3 million digital readers. LM: That’s fantastic! I also heard that Beverly Hills, California “Land of Stars” is in the cards!!
“We sit down to a three- course meal for the parents and fur babies who are served ‘Pawperignon.’”
LM: Tell us about the typical G Girl event
LG: The typical event is two days of fun, fashion and fundraising. Our evenings begin with prejudging of the fur babies and their attire. When all are served we move into the banquet room for the runway presentation. While the judges are making their final decision we sit down to a three-course meal for the parents and fur babies who are served “Pawperignon,” (lol - not real alcohol), grilled chicken and steamed veggies and our signature three-tier fur baby cake. Throughout the evening there is a live auction, 50/50 raffle and raffle tables sometimes vendors. One hundred percent of the live auction and raffle table goes to the rescue/charity. There is also an on-line auction and on-line photo contest. The winners are announced the evening of the event. LM: Tell us about the ladies who attend. What are they like? What do they bring to the party? LG: The ladies that attend these events are fantabulous! They bring their love and support of my mission and vision for helping rescues and charities. They travel with us all over the country. Without the ladies, designers and sponsors I could not do what I do. I especially love Lick Magazine.
LG: Yes, you heard correctly. After NY, LA “Here we come.”
LM: Is there anything we can add that we’ve left out of our chat?
A very big “Thank you” to Lick Magazine & Barbara Jayne for all their support.
LG:
