The giraffe walking across the open savanna in Masai Mara in front of the setting sun and thick clouds and the silhouetted caracal on a dead tree convey the idea of the wide open spaces these animals call home. And of course sunsets are lovely subjects to photograph — even with vultures in them.
In the photograph of the little meerkat looking out into the endless grassland of the Kalahari, I want the image to show how vast the world is to a creature that small. I tried to get a similar result with the cheetah in the dry river bed, since these attentive animals are hunters that rely on large open plains to spot and chase their prey.
