ICPF To Host Corrugated Career Teleconference

On February 22nd, the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) will conduct its annual Teleconference on The Business of Corrugated Pack- aging & Displays and the Career Opportunities. More than 500 packaging, graphic design, marketing & sales, supply chain management, business and other students and faculty on 20 college and university campuses are expected to participate. This national broadcast is not a webcast, but a live video confer- ence utilizing professional WKAR TV personnel and TV broadcast equipment at central Michigan’s PBS studios for two-way interactivity. The Teleconference will include a panel of three in- dustry executives. Mike Riegsecker, Chief Operating Officer, Menasha Packaging Company; Robert Lan- daal, President, Landaal Packaging Systems; and Kevin Hinz, Marketing and Sales Director, KapStone Paper and Packaging. The executives will provide an overview of the corrugated packaging and displays business and the career opportunities. Anna Sadows- ki, a Virginia Tech Packaging Systems and Design se- nior with a minor in Business, will serve as Teleconference moderator. The panel presentation will be followed by a round of live questions from students on each of the participating campuses. Campuses planning to participate include Ap- palachian State University, Bowling Green State Uni- versity, California Polytechnic State University, Clemson University, Dunwoody College of Technolo- gy, Indiana State University, Illinois State University, Lewis-Clark State College, Michigan State University, Millersville University, North Carolina A & T Universi- ty, North Carolina State University, Pittsburg State University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, University of Florida, University of Texas- Arlington, University of Wisconsin-Stout,Virginia Tech andWestern Michigan. The Teleconference's will conclude with ICPF’s annu- al Student Design Presentation Competition. Four stu- dent teams, from Cal Poly, Clemson University, Millersville University and University of Texas - Arling- ton, will show, tell and sell their winning entries by ex- plaining the objective, the research conducted, design and other background. These four student teams, that earlier placed in AICC’s separate 2017 design competi- tion, will be competing for cash prizes provided by ICPF. Following the competition, ICPF additionally pro- vides industry coaches to the best student presenters to mentor and shepherd them toward sales careers in the corrugated packaging & displays industry.
