THE KING’S BUSINESS

Through a friend, a Bible woman was invited to call and after two hours’ earnest conversation in. the giving of God’s Word, the widow, saw her mistake and humbly knelt and surrendered her life to God. Some weeks later the Bible woman asked, “How are you getting along?” and received the answer, “All right since that night.” An orphan girl of nine years, without friends, was compelled to seek work in a factory by day and devote her evenings and Sundays to work in the place called “home,” so no time or strength was left for school or church. She was married young, and later, with a family and an invalid husband, knew only hard work. Soon left a widow with no support, her burdens did not lighten. A Bible woman called and found her very conscious of'her ignorance'of the Word of God and eager to know the truth. After several visits, the hungry heart unburdened itself and revealed real physi cal distress. That night, after being assured of God’s love for her, the woman took Christ as her Saviour and burden- said goodbye to a young man who, through one of our workers, had been led to Christ and for the past month has been of much help to us at the Club. For a long time this young mart had been running away from God. His heart was heavy. He has a family in Colorado, but the doctors had sent him out here for his health. He lost one of his arms while in a mine in Colorado, which made it difficult for him' to find employment. For eleven long months after coming to California he looked for work, but could find none. On being approached by one of our workers,, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, but sfill was unable to find work. After having a talk with the workers, • and looking into God’s Word, he decided the, Lord would take care of him, and

bearer, committing her need to Him. Her material wants were soon supplied, her soul satisfied and her faith made stead fast in the true and living God. At one door in our visitation work we were met by a woman with two little chil dren clinging to her. She told a story that is, alas, very common to a Bible woman. In an Eastern city she had 'known and loved the Lord, but. coming here she had wandered away. We were invited in and as the love and mercy of God were unfolded to her, she returned to her Father’s house. We knelt down (each soothing a wondering child) and in a Voice choked ,with sobs she confessed her sins and rose from her knees, happy in Him. We took the names of the family to be sent to the pastor of her choice, the chil dren to be placed in Sunday School, she herself to be received into the church, and left, rejoicing that God had given us the privilege of having a part in His glorious work. began actively to work and win men to Jesus Christ. For a whole month this went on, and though his money was almost gone, he still trusted God and pushed on. You can understand how hard it would be for a man with one arm to get a job, but nothing is impossible with God. While he went on telling the old, old story,, we helped him grow in knowledge of the Word, and watched him grow in grace, and at last came an answer to our prayers. One day a telegram came from a firm in Colorado offering him a job at $90 a month. God is faithful, and the man that seeks His kingdom first, will always come out right. After prayer and definitely seeking God’s will, he decided the Lord wanted him to go, but before leaving he supplied himself with a large number of tracts and gospels,
