Many foolishly gave up their faithful testimony because they cannot bear the ridicule of the world, and so become exponents of the “latest schol­ arship.” There was, however, a wise rem­ nant even in Hezekiah’s day who “hum­ bled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.” In Judah God gave them great unanimity ( 1 ) A Passover Proposed, v. 2. What was the Passover? Ex. 12:1-3. What made it a good rallying ,point for a nation of backsliders? Ex. 12:13. Have Christians a Passover ? 1 Cor. 5:7. (Luke 14:18-23). 2 Chron 29 :17. Was there a precedent for holding the passover at a later date? Num. 9:10-13. Is stress to be laid on the phrase “all Israel” ? What sort of a God have we in Jehovah? v. 9. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) “Give the hand” (margin v. 8 ) ; God’s hand is always stretched out; put yourself into it. (2) A stiff neck is a discomfort; limber up. (3) If one must stoop to enter God’s sanc­ tuary— stoop! (4) The posts did their part whether the people did theirs or not. (5) “From Dan to Beersheba” is a “who­ soever will” invitation. ( 6 ) Get into God’s : way and things will come- yours.. (7) God will pass over you if you pass under the blood. ( 8 J Ye are the temple of the living God. (2 Cor. 6:16);
