P l e a s e , d e a r L o r d , make Mama get enough rest. Please don’t let anything happen to her — at least not yet!” “My!” thought Mother as she lis tened to her 12 year-old daughter’s petition. “I certainly must look wea ry! Ardyth’s prayer coincides with her spoken fear that I will die before she is old enough to care for herself. I’ll have to find out the reason for this fear. Even if she has an ulterior motive for wanting me to live a few more years, I still feel warm in the knowledge of being needed.” “Kids, we’ve misjudged Mama in her praying,” Mark fairly shouted as the family concluded devotions that same day. “Mommie only prayed two minutes and 30 seconds. Paul prayed longer. He took three minutes and 20 seconds. So we’ve been wrong in saying Mama prays the longest!” A flabbergasted family stared at the youngest member. “How do you know how long each of us prayed?” Daddy inquired. “I timed you with my watch. See, it has a second hand!” came the forthright answer. Over the noise of giggles and some self-righteous scoldings—“you should have had your eyes closed, Mark;” “who gave you permission to check on us?”, Daddy commented: “Devo tions around here have taken on an unusual angle lately. At least we’re not in a rut.” “With all these positive personali ties, and the influence of their Dad, how could anything become stereo typed?” Mother chided gently. The glow of that family prayer time wrapped Mother with a fresh appreciation as warm as down. How much we adults can learn from chil dren! Somehow these little ones seem to have embraced with an enormous faith thè truth which Jesus Christ taught: “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matthew 21:22). As our attention is turned at this Christmas season to the Babe of Beth lehem, may our hearts, in simple child-like faith, turn to Him as Sav iour and Lord.

PASTORATE

MISSIONS

Provides the student with the content of his message, the manner of delivery of his sermon, successful methods of pastoral work, opportunities for practical experience, and an active place ment service after graduation.

Gives a basic introduction to home and foreign missions and provides constant challenge, through numerous missionary chapels and faculty emphasis, to carry the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the world.

TEACHING

EVANGELISM Believes the successful pastor must be a soul winner, challenges him to this task, supplies him with the tools requisite to winning souls for Christ, and instructs him in their use in the local church and in evangelistic campaigns.

Lays a firm foundation for theological graduate study for students desiring education as their life work, and equips its graduates to be successful Bible teachers in the local church and upon the mission field.
