Q. Should men be used in the young er departments of the Sunday school? A. Yes! We are happy to say that there is a definite trend in this direc tion. Children need to be impressed with the fact that Christianity is not merely for children and women. There is a definite trend in many Sunday schools toward using men even in pre-school departments. Q. How can more adults be attract ed to the educational program of the church? A. This program must be on their level; it must meet their needs; it must have a real appeal to them. Some Sunday schools today are pro viding elective courses in various subjects of interest to Christians in their adult curriculum. The wise church will also provide a meaning ful program on Sunday evening for adults during the training hour. Q. What experiments are being tried today to increase interest in Vaca tion Bible School? A. There are a number of new wrinkles being seen in this important program. Some churches are conduct ing VBS for the family in the eve ning. Although it is quite obvious that much more can be accomplished through a two-week school, many churches are resorting to a five-day VBS. They are finding it easier to recruit staff and maintain interest. Some churches are splitting the time, conducting the VBS for children in one part of the summer and having it for youth and adults at another time. Q. Is more being done for pre-school ers in the church today? A. Recently in a brief trip across town, I counted five nursery schools. These are multiplying at a very rapid rate. The church is becoming more interested in these important years also. More attention is being given to their program, more study to their needs. The results of this attention will be seen in the years to come! Bibles Rebound Write for illustrated price list from Nation's larg est Bible rebinding specialists. Work Guaranteed. the organization are unmistakable, and its policies are devastating in the extreme. Two years ago, the World Council of Churches advocated a type of pro gram that we see taking place throughout our country today with increasing frequency and severity. One can only conclude that there must be more than a casual relation ship between pronouncements of the World Council and the rebellion that is sweeping our land. The National Council of Churches constitutes one of the leading influences in the World Council, if not the leading influence. It is merely an academic question as to which group is following which. This is the sort of revolution that the denominations who are members of the National Council of Churches are aiding and abetting. And this is the very sort of revolution that individ ual members of local congregations who belong to such denominations are aiding and abetting. Of course, many pastors of local churches play down the significance of the World Council. Nevertheless, an appreciable portion of every gift dollar goes to ward the support of the National Council and the World Council for the propagation of this sort of busi ness. The reformers thought the Ro man Catholic Church was the harlot described in Revelation 17 and 18. Could it be that the World Council itself is the one foretold in these chapters? At least the World Council is talking about a supra-national or ganization with a world dictator who has complete control over the wealth, the military, the social and religious life of all peoples under his domina tion, and he works with the blessing of and complete allegiance of the World Council of Churches. Surely we are living in the end times. Do not look forward to the changes of life in fear; rather look to them with full hope that, as they arise, God, whose you are, will deliver you out of them. He has kept you hitherto and He will lead you safe ly through all things; and when you cannot stand it, He will bear you in His arms. Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you to morrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations. — Francis de Sales

T R E N D S Q. What is the best way to co-ordi nate the many activities in a Total Church Program? A. Organize a board or committee of Christian Education that can study the needs and establish over all policies for the church’s educa tional program. Many churches are doing this today. Q. What are some of the theological reasons that are causing more pas tors to see the need for Christian Education today? A. The Bible, God’s revelation of Himself, directs that it should be taught to all (Matt. 28:19, 20). This Word of God is inspired and infalli ble. Man is sinful and in need of a Saviour, Christ. The need for the spiritual dynamic of the Holy Spirit through the teacher and in the pupil in the teacher-learning process. The edifying ministry of the local church. These and other “ theological planks” form a firm foundation fo r the church’s program of Christian Edu cation.
