Sparkling Wine Terms V I N T A G E Depending on the origin of the wine, vintage can have a slightly different meaning. Generally, vintage means a single vintage, or majority of the vintage the grapes were picked. However, if the vintage is uncertain, it can be found in the country’s laws on grape growing/wine making.
S P A R K L I N G M E T H O D S There are 6 major meth- ods by which sparkling wines are produced, each resulting in a different car- bonation level and, ulti- mately, a different style of sparkling beverage. The two most widely used are Traditional Method (used for Champagne, etc) and Tank Method (used for Prosecco, etc).
B L A N C D E B L A N C S A champagne or sparkling wine term referring to white wine made from only white (usually Chardonnay) grapes.

B L A N C D E N O I R S If red grapes are pressed and the juice is allowed to ferment after being separated from the skins, the result is white wine, referred to as “blanc de noirs” meaning a white wine from dark grapes
