The BOOK of REVELATION by r i . Humberd “ Few of the commentaries that have been written on this profound and mysterious book, are as sound and as simple as this one'' — M oody M onthly

I HAVE BEEN TO THE CROSS They planted a cross on a lonely hill And on it they nailed my Lord— For the multiplied sins of a guilty world The gift of His blood was poured. I have been to the cross, and oh, what a change, What a wonderful change for me— Instead of the grave a glimpse of His face Through all of eternity. The way to the cross is a rugged way, It leads up a mountain height— Oh, surely they stumble and fall, who dare To journey by faith, not sight? But no! Where the pathway is rough and steep The print of His feet I see— M y Saviour has traveled this way before And that is enough for me. The way from the cross, what a way it is! All lit with the light divine. It leads through the garden where Jesus woke And gave me His life for mine. I linger long on the way from the cross, In the pasture of God's good Word; For more than all else to my soul, I count A sight of my risen Lord. I have been to the cross where my Saviour died, And all of my life is made new— In the person of Him I am crucified. I have been to the cross. Have you? LORD, I WAS IN A LITTLE PLACE "H e brought me forth also into a large place." — Psalm 18:19 Lord, I was in a little place, But Thou hast brought me out: Thy word a lamp unto my feet, We scaled the walls of doubt. Out of the littleness of self, The striving to be good, Into the great uncharted fields Of Thine infinitude. Out of the littleness of care, The worries that destroy, Into the large and sunlit place Of everlasting joy. Out of the littleness of pride, That choked and fettered me, Into the fragrant open air Of Thy humility. Lord, when I walk these larger fields And glean sweet peace from them, I will recall a little place— The bam in Bethlehem. I know my place is large because. Of Christ of Calvary, Thy love was great and Thou didst take The little place for me.
