By INEZ McGAHEY Hilda (Halloran ’46) and Searle Hoogs- hagen, Oaxaca, Mexico: . . Recently we arrived here in Mitla to spend several months at our translation conference to prepare Luke for its final work-over to be put into the hands of the printer and then into the hands of the Mixes. Searle has already started work on the background history of Genesis and Exodus needed for an understanding of the New Testament work.” Edward ’43 and Betty (Pearson ’43) Case, Jaruco, Cuba: “ Amidst rapidly changing circumstances and events . . . our prayer must be that the missionary era will not close here as it did in China . . . In near-by San Antonio we are conducting a teacher training class which meets each Saturday night. Their Sunday School seems to be improving. We also have a children’s class there on Friday nights, and recently three boys accepted Christ.” Kinda Kasper AA, Kano, Nigeria, West Africa: “More young people from the Nurses’ Preliminary Training School are coming this year than heretofore. Some, who have finished their preliminary train ing and are now in various Government Hospitals in other parts of Nigeria, are asking us to continue to pray for them and for those to whom they witness.” Dick ’60 and Jean ’57 Berry, Alhambra, California: “ Now we have full support and $1600 toward passage and equipment. We shall be leaving around October for Berlin, Germany, where we shall be working among the East German refugees. Jean has been teaching school for the past three years and will be doing nursing this summer.” Prescilla Bartram ’56, Peru, South Amer ica: “ Our school goes from kindergarten through the twelfth grade and has eighty- five children in it this term. Twenty-five of those children are in my combination class of first and second graders. It was not long after school had commenced that we realized a need for more help on the teaching staff. Pray with us that the Lord will provide three or four more teachers for next year. W e have just received news of the first believer among the Yaguas.” Jim ’47 and Julia (Scow ’48) McNutt, Encinitas, California: “ Consider our new ministry, just made official by the mis sion. . . . W e are to assume general direc tion of a literature ministry in Brazil. This involves many things . . . much more than simply doing printing . . . correspondence courses, new books, exist ing literature, tracts, magazines . . . these and other literature forms for reaching and teaching . . . along with numerous effective means of distribution. . . . Several opportunities are before us . . . a helpful workshop at Moody Bible Institute, un doubtedly the most practical. . . . Our $1400 passage is in and about 30% of our monthly support has been pledged . . . part of it beginning in time to help with expenses to Moody.”
