REVIEW OF GOLDEN TEXTS. Lesson XIII. J u ne BO. We would suggest a. bible reading and questioning on the Golden Texts of the quarter. I. "THE APPEARANCES * OF THE RISEN LORD." 1. The text: Acts 2:2, "This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we ali are witnesses." 2. Who said this? Peter. ' 3. To whom did the risen Lord ap- pear? (Cor. 15:5-8 etc.) 4. How did they know it was Him- self? (Jno. 20:20, 2.7.) 5. Through how many days did He appear? (Acts 1:3). 6. What is the significance to us? (1 Cor. 15:20-23.) II. "THE USE OF THE SABBATH." 1. The text: Mark 2:27, "The Sab- bath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath" (Mk. 2:27.) 2. On what occasion was this said? (Mk. 2:23.) 3. Who criticised the Lord's con- duct? (v. 24.) 4. By what O. T. incident did He justify it? (1 Sam. 21:6.) 5. What did Jesus do on the Sab- bath? (Mk. 1:21-34 etc.) 6. How should we spend the Sab- bath? (Mat. 12:12.) HI. "THE APPOINTMENT OF THE • TWELVE," Mk. 3:7-19. 1. The text: Jno. 15:16, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit." 2. How many apostles did Jesus choose? (Mk. 3:14.) 3. What were their names? (16-19.) 4. What were they to be and do? (Acts 1:8.) 5. What can you tell about them and their work? IV." THE BEATITUDES," Mat. 5:1-12. 1. The text: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Mat. 5:8. 2. In what address do these words occur? Sermon on the Mount. 3. What are the 8 "Blesseds" called? Beatitudes. 4. What is it to be pure in heart? (Phil. 3 : 5 ). 5. How may we get a pure, heart? (Psa. 51: 6, 7). 6. What is the reward of a pure heart? (Psa. 24:3, 4), V. "POVERTY AND RICHES," Luke 6:20-26; 16:19-31.

1. The text: "A man's life consist- eth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth," Luke 12:15. 2. What two men are contrasted in Luke 16:19-31? An unnamed rich man, and Lazarus a beggar. 3. What kind of a life did the rich man lead? (v. 19). 4. How did the beggar fare? (v. 20, 2 1 ). 5. What was their condition after death? (v. 22, 23). 6. What was the rich man's sin? Selfish worldiness. 7. What should we seek first. Mat. 6:33. VI. "THE LAW OF LOVE," Luke 6:27-38; Rom. 13:8-10. 1. The text: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself," Rom. 13:9. 2. Who is our neighbor? Every one, even an enemy (Lk. 10:29-37). 3. What will love do for an enemy? Lk. 6:27, 28. 4. Who is our example in this? Mat. 5:45. 5. What does love fulfill? Roni. 13:10. 6. Where does Paul describe this love? I. Cor. 13. VII. "THE OLD LAW AND THE NEW LIFE." Mat. 5:17-26. 1. The text: "He that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law." Rom. 13:8. 2. What is the difference between keeping the law in the letter and keep- ing it in the spirit? (Mat. 15:7-9; Jn. 15:16). 3. How many commandments were on the tables of stone? (Deut. 4:13). 4. Repeat the ten commandments? (Ex. 20:1-17). 5. How would breaking a com- mandment show the absence of love? (I Jno. 5 : 3 ). 6. Where are these commandments kept? Mt. 6:10. 7. What then is the law of heaven? (I Cor. 13:13). VIII. "TRUTHFULNESS," Mat. 5:33- 37; Jas. 3:1-12; 5:12. 1. The text: "Putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neigh- bor, for we are members one of an- other. Eph. 4:25. 2. What reason does Paul give for not lying? Golden text. 3. If all made a practice of lying instead of speaking truth what would be the effect on society? (Rom. 1:28- 32). 4. In what ways may we lie with- out words? (2 Cor. 5:12).
