mental Council PEC). People of Central Pennsyl- vania should be proud to know that a business in their own backyard is so dedicated to protecting Pennsylvania’s natu- ral resources – water, air and land. Kline’s Services won the pres- tigious award for their Methane Digester Electrical Generation Project, Phase 2 of their overall 3-Phase Renewable Energy Systems Plan to produce alter- native energy from waste and to reduce their overall envi- ronmental impact. This phase coupled an anaerobic methane digester with a generator to

produce electricity from food processing waste. The meth- ane digester system produces approximately 400,000 kWh per month, enough electric- ity to meet the energy needs of Kline’s Services as well as providing electricity to supple- ment the local utilities grid. This electricity is net metered through a substation located on Kline’s Services’ property. From May 2012 until July 2013, Kline’s Services has generated in excess of 6 million kWh of electricity … from waste! Nancy A. Zigment i s marketing coordinator at Kline’s. n
