Indian Gaming Regulations For the year, Indian Gaming paid $474,567,064 to regulate their gaming facilities. As this amount was spent into the U.S. economy, an additional 11,515 jobs were created, which amounted to an additional $456,924,473 in wages for worker’s activities related to the regulation of Indian Gaming. Because of Indian Gaming, the business of regulating its casinos reaps the benefits of $912,248,449 in overall economic output. Indian gaming is subject to regulation from three jurisdictions: Tribal, State, and Federal government. By law, Indian tribes are the primary regulators of Indian gaming and regulate gaming through tribal gaming commissions, including compliance officers and audit staff, and tribal law enforcement. In 2018, Indian tribes have allocated $357.2 million for tribal government gaming regulation and have established world class, state of the art gaming regulatory systems with these funds. Tribes are directly responsible for the total employment of 3,294 tribal gaming commissioner and regulatory staff. Tribal regulators are highly educated, experienced and dedicated professionals equipped with the most advanced technology. They are the equals of their counterparts in state and federal government. At the state level, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) provides that state agencies may participate in the regulation of Class III gaming through Tribal-State Compacts. Tribes reimburse the States approximately $92.9 million annually for state regulation. At the federal level, Indian tribes fund the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) at a level of $24.3 million annually and the NIGC coordinates with the tribal and state regulatory agencies. the regulation of Class III gaming through
