Larry D. Parker, 26, was fatally injured when the 2005 Nissan Sentra that he was driving was struck by the 2006 Lincoln Town Car driven by Joshua A. Cain, 46, of Grant. Parker was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on U.S. 72 near Jackson County 236, approximately five miles west of Woodville, in Jackson County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate. CROSSVILLE MAN KILLED - A multi-vehicle crash at approximately 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, has claimed the life of a Crossville man. Tommy W. Gortney, AGE 51, was fatally injured when the 2015 Kia Optima that he was driving was struck by the 2015 Honda CR-V driven by Olivia G. Butler, age 27, of Rainsville. After the impact, the Kia struck the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Katheryn D Lipscomb, age 33, of Crossville and then struck the 2019 Honda CR-V driven by Amanda F. Terry, age 51, of Rainsville. Gortney was pronounced dead at the scene. Lipscomb and Terry were both injured and transported to Marshall Medical Center for treatment. The passenger of the Kia, Malinda B. Gortney, age 50, of Crossville, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Two child passengers of the Chevrolet, a 5-year-old and a 1-year-old, were also injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 75 near Dekalb County Road 24, approximately five miles south of Geraldine. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate to incident. Traffic Accidents Registration Now Open For Trapping Education Workshops The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is offering a series of trapping education workshops that will provide instruction on the historical aspects of trapping, the biology of furbearers, and how to use trapping as a sound wildlife management tool.
