Emirati writers play an indispensable role as the authentic guardians of our culture and intellectual heritage. Their boundless generosity and unwavering creative energy serve as a beacon of light, illuminating our nation ’ s journey toward advancement, free creative and critical thinking, growth, and sustainability. The knowledge they impart to future generations and the messages they aspire to convey to the world resonate with the words of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE who remarked that culture and thought have always been and will continue to be the primary measure of nationsʹ progress. With the declaration of 2023 as the Year of Sustainability and the imminent convening of the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change [COP 28], the need to unite efforts for achieving sustainability has become more urgent than ever. It is crucial to strive for sustainability not only in all industrial sectors but also in the areas of environmental preservation, culture, society, arts, and creativity. Our work aligns with the objectives of the Principles of 50 and the UAE Centennial 2071 Vision, further propelling the momentum toward a secure, stable, and prosperous future for the UAE. To achieve this, we have established and adopted processes that effectively preserve and protect our invaluable human and natural resources. As we embrace the Year of Sustainability, we redouble our efforts to establish sustainability as a core national endeavour that fosters progress and empowers creativity. We achieve this through a commitment to continuous learning, training, development, and inspiration. The knowledge generated by these elements serves as the fundamental pillar for sustainability and propels the growth of creative industries such as publishing, distribution, writing, arts, design, fashion, and traditional handicrafts. These sectors lie at the heart of our activities at the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation [ADMAF]. C ulture plays a fundamental and inspiring role in the lives of people, permeating our consciousness and the essence of our being. It serves as a guiding force for nations, embodying creativity that reflects a nationʹs aspirations for advancement and highlights its pioneering spirit. Culture represents a comprehensive system of thought that harmoniously embraces diversity and unity, tradition and modernity, pride in oneʹs heritage, and openness to the world. It encapsulates the belief that “ a countryʹs greatest investment lies in building generations of educated and knowledgeable youth. ” Sustainability thrives within this certainty, paving the way for a promising future and nurturing growth in the realms of thought, literature, arts, poetry, translation, authorship, fashion, and performance arts. The UAEʹs remarkable achievements in culture, knowledge, and sustainability are vividly showcased through the nationʹs vibrant cultural events. From the esteemed Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, now in its 32 nd year to the influential second edition of the International Congress of Arabic Publishing and Creative Industries, and the cherished Sharjah Childrenʹs Reading Festival in its 14 th edition, among others. On this occasion, we extend heartfelt congratulations to the esteemed thought leaders, knowledge creators, authors, and artists - our Emirati writers who are celebrated annually on May 26 th .

ال يتجزأ من اإلرث الحضاري والتاريخي، والعملية التنموية، وبناء اإلنسـان الواعـي والقـادر علـى خدمـة وطنـه، والمنفتـح علـى غيـره والقادر على نشر قيم التسامح والسالم والتعايش”. عامــا وطنيــا لالســتدامة، وعلــى أبــواب 2023 فمــع إعــالن العــام انعقاد مؤتمر األطراف في اتفاقية األمم المتحدة اإلطارية بشأن )، بـات األمـر األكثـر إلحاحـا علينـا أن نوحّــد 28 تغيُّــر المنـاخ (كـوب جميــع الجهــود فــي تحقيــق االســتدامة فــي جميــع المجــاالت الصناعيــة أوالً، والبيئيــة، ثــم الثقافيــة واالجتماعيــة والفنــون والصناعات اإلبداعية، وبهذا نسهم في ترجمة مستهدفات وثيقة ، ويتحقـق للدولـة 2071 مبـادئ الخمسـين وخطـة مئويـة اإلمـارات االنطـالق بزخـم أكبـر، نحـو مسـتقبل آمـن مسـتقر مزدهـر، بفضـل مــا نصنعــه وننتهجــه مــن آليــات ترشــيد للمــوارد وحفــاظ عليهــا واقتصاد في استغاللها، سواء أكانت موارد طبيعية أم بشرية. فـي عـام االسـتدامة، نضاعـف جهودنـا مـن أجـل ترسـيخها خيـارا وطنيــا يســهم فــي النهضــة والتنميــة وتمكيــن الحــراك اإلبداعــي، عبـر التعليـم والتدريـب والتطويـر واإللهـام، فالمعرفـة الناتجـة عـن كل ما تقدّم، تعد ركنا أصيال وركيزة رئيسية من ركائز االستدامة، بمـا تحفّــزه مـن صناعـات ثقافيـة، فـي التأليـف والنشـر والتوزيـع، والتصميم والتشـكيل والحِرَفيّة، مرورا باألزياء والحرف اليدوية التقليديــة والتراثيــة، وصــوال إلــى الكتــاب الــذي يقــع فــي صلــب اهتماماتنا في مجموعة أبوظبي للثقافة والفنون، هو أداة ووعاء صناعة الفكر، وفي صفحاته تكمن المعارف التي تتناقلها األجيال وتنعقد عليها آمال الشعوب ويُبنى حوار الثقافات.
الراسخ، إبداعا يعكس إرادة التطور والتوق للريادة، وفكرا يحتفي بالتنـوع والوحـدة معـاً، باألصالـة والحداثـة، معتـزا بإرثـه، منفتحـا علـى العالـم فـي الوقـت نفسـه، مؤمنـا بـأن “أكبـر اسـتثمار للمال هو اسـتثماره فـي بنـاء أجيـال مـن المتعلّميـن والمثقفيـن”، وفـي هـذا اليقيــن تكمــن االســتدامة التــي تمهّــد دروب المســتقبل وترسّــخ خيارات التنمية، بصناعات الفكر والنثر، واألدب والشـعر، والرسـم والتشكيل، والترجمة والتأليف، واألزياء وفنون األداء. واليـوم نشـهد مـا تقدّمـه اإلمـارات فـي مجـاالت الثقافـة والمعرفـة واالستدامة التي تجسّدها على سبيل المثال ال الحصر، احتفالياتنا الثقافيـة، مثـل معـرض أبوظبـي الدولـي للكتـاب في دورتـه الثانية والثالثيـن، والمؤتمـر الدولـي للنشـر العربـي والصناعـات اإلبداعيـة فـي دورتـه الثانيـة، وقبلهمـا مهرجـان الشـارقة القرائـي للطفـل فـي دورتـه الرابعـة عشـرة، كمـا لنـا أن نعبّــر عـن تهانينـا الحـارة لصانـع الفكر ومنتج المعارف والعلوم واآلداب، أعني به الكاتب اإلماراتي الذي نحتفل بيومه في السادس والعشرين من مايو كل عام. الكاتـب اإلماراتـي كان ويظـل األميـن علـى ثقافتنا وفكرنا، ومسـار تقدّمنا بالفكر المتجدد الحر، وهو شريكنا في التنمية واالستدامة، بالعطـاء الثقافـي الـذي ال ينضـب، والجهـد اإلبداعـي الـذي ال يـكلُّ، والمعرفــة التــي يورثهــا ألبنائنــا وأحفادنــا، ويحمّلهــا رســالته إلــى العالـم، وهنـا أقتبـس مقولـة سـيدي صاحـب السـمو الشـيخ محمـد بـن زايـد آل نهيـان، رئيـس الدولـة، حفظـه هلل، حـول “أن الثقافـة والفكر كانا وسيظالن المعيار األول لقياس تقدم األمم وتحضرها، ومعرفـة مـدى قدرتهـا علـى التطـور واالرتقـاء، وأن المعرفـة جـزء
