العالمية من نيويورك إلى ميالنو. بالنسبة لي، السفر والتصويـر مرتبطـان ببعضهمـا البعـض. واصلــت منــذ ذلــك الحيــن الســفر حــول العالــم، حيـث صـوّرت الفنـادق الفاخـرة فـي جـزر المالديـف، وفرانكفــورت، ونانجينــغ، والهــور، باإلضافــة إلــى تكليفــي بمشــاريع لرؤســاء دول عــدة بلــدان. هــذه الخبرات والمعرفة المتراكمة المكتسـبة من مشـاريع التصويــر المختلفــة تجعلنــي مصــورا متخصصــا بمجــاالت متعــددة جــداً. هـل تـروي لنـا قصـة انتقالـك إلـى دبـي، وحكايـة اسـتقرارك هناك؟ كنــت أعيــش فــي لنــدن حيــن حصلــت علــى وظيفــة ؛ وهكــذا بــدأ كل 2004 فــي دار نشــر فــي دبــي عــام شــيء. بعــد ذلــك التحقــت بوكالــة أنبــاء دوليــة، ثــم بــدأت العمــل بمفــردي. أحب دولة االمارات. وأعتبرها وطني حيث تطورت حياتـي المهنيـة والشـخصية وازدهـرت هنـا. في أقل ، تحولت 1971 عاما منذ اسـتقاللها في العام 50 من اإلمـارات العربيـة المتحـدة مـن دولـة يعتمـد سـكانها علـى صيـد األسـماك واللؤلـؤ، إلـى عواصـم مسـتقبلية ذات مبـان شـاهقة وبنيـة تحتيـة متطـورة مـن طـراز رفيــع. خلــق قــادة الدولــة أصحــاب الرؤيــة الثاقبــة فرصـا مذهلـة للكثيـر مـن النـاس، ومـن الملهـم لـي أن أكـون جـزءا مـن نموهـا.
في األشـهر السـتة األولى، كان يُسـمح لي بالتصوير فقط باألبيض واألسود باستخدام كاميرات األفالم. شرح األستاذ أنني يجب أن أكـون انتقائيـا فـي ذلـك، ودقيقـا للغاية فيما يتعلق بالموضوع وأن أكـوّن الصـور باسـتخدام عـدد قليـل جـدا مـن العناصـر فـي اإلطـار، وأن ذلــك سيســاعد فــي تطويــر عيــن للحصــول علــى التفاصيــل. مـن أفضـل الطـرق السـتخالص اإلبـداع مـن الفنـان هـو تقييدهـا. ربمـا هـذا هـو السـبب فـي أن بعـض أفضـل المصوريـن معروفـون بالتصويــر باألبيــض واألســود. نقــص اللــون يخلــق تركيــزا علــى العناصـر المرئيـة األخـرى. خــالل دراســتي فــي التصويــر الصحفــي تعلمــت فــن اللحظــة الحاسـمة. وهـو مفهـوم اشـتهر فيـه مصـور الشـوارع الشـهير هنـري كارتييه-بريسـون، يشـير إلـى التقـاط حدث سـريع الـزوال وعفوي. إنه فن التوقع، حيث تحتاج إلى التنبؤ واستباق الحدث اللتقاطه فـي أفضـل حاالتـه قبـل حدوثـه. وأثنـاء دراسـتي التصويـر الوثائقـي، تعلمـت فـن سـرد القصـة مـن خـالل الصـور المرئيـة الجذابـة: التقـاط جوهـر الموضـوع وكشـف فــرادة روايتــه. تعلمــت كيفيــة التخطيــط لمقاربتــي، بــدءا مــن الموضـوع العـام والرسـالة وصـوال إلى الموضوعـات والمواقع التي سأستكشــفها فــي المســتقبل. حدثنـا عـن بعـض المهـام المبكـرة في بداية مسـيرتك، وكيف بـدأت تتجـه نحـو نـوع العمـل الـذي تقـوم به اآلن؟ منـذ بدايـة مسـيرتي المهنيـة، سـافرت حـول العالـم وسـافرت إلـى نيوزيلنــدا وباريــس وبرليــن وســنغافورة وكوااللمبــور وغيرهــا، إلنتــاج صــور للكتــب والمجــالت لــدور النشــر والمطبوعــات التحريريـة. عملـت أيضـا مـع وكاالت أنبـاء دوليـة تغطـي الرياضـة العالميــة، باإلضافــة إلــى وكاالت أزيــاء تغطــي أســابيع الموضــة
During my photojournalism studies, I learned the art of the decisive moment; a concept made popular by the famous street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. It refers to capturing an event that is ephemeral and spontaneous. It is the art of anticipation, where you need to pre-empt an action to capture it at its best before it happens. While I was studying documentary photography, I learned the art of telling a story through compelling visual images: to capture the essence of a subject and reveal its unique narrative. I learned how to plan my approach, from the overall theme and message to the subjects and locations I will be exploring in the future. What were some important early assignments and how did you start gravitating towards the type of work you now do? From the early onset of my career, I traversed the world, travelling to New Zealand, Paris, Berlin, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and more to create visuals for books and magazines for publishing and editorial houses. I was also working for international press agencies covering global sports, as well as fashion agencies covering international fashion weeks in New York to Milan. For me, travel and photography are intertwined. Since then, I have continued traveling the world, shooting luxury hotels in the Maldives, Frankfurt, Nanjing and Lahore, as well as commissioned projects for Heads of State in

different countries. These accumulated experiences and knowledge gained from different photography projects make me a very versatile photographer. Can you tell the story of how you relocated to Dubai and any thoughts about being based there? I was living in London, and I got a job in a publishing house in Dubai in 2004; this is how everything started. After that, I joined an international news agency, and then I started working on my own. I love the UAE; I consider it my home as I have developed my professional and personal life here. In less than 50 years since its independence in 1971, the UAE has transformed from a nation whose inhabitants depended on the traditional fishing and pearling industries, to today’s futuristic metropolises with towering buildings and top- notch infrastructure. The visionary leadership of the rulers has created opportunities and aspirations for a lot of people, and it is inspiring for me to be part of its growth. Can you tell me about some of the biggest challenges of your career or times when it was hard to see a path forward? The biggest challenge I have as a photographer is the changing weather whilst on location. You need to be able to manage expectations, especially when you are working with a big team. Six months ago, I travelled to the Maldives to work on a project with a team of 20 people. I was the director, and we were only given four days to complete the project.
