Welcome to our 2nd Annual Online Genetic Opportunity Sale! We thank you for your interest in our program and want to thank all our past customers and bidders that have made our prior sales a success. This year’s sale has something for everyone. We’ve raised a group of heifers that we are proud to put our name behind and offer to the public, along with semen lots from some of the new and upcoming genetics we are plugging into our herd. We have selected a few embryo lots to offer as well, coming from some of our freshest genetics that we are fast tracking in our herd. New to the sale this year, we are offering commercial bred heifers from some of our long time customers. The registered heifers were sorted out of a group of 95 head, and of these heifers, there is not one we would not like to keep in our herd. They have been developed with longevity in mind from day one. We work closely with our nutritionist to ensure these gals are getting what they need, when they need it, and this all starts prior to conception. They are current on all vaccinations, includ- ing bangs, have been wormed with Safeguard and poured in early October. Dr. JJ Hovde ultra-sounded our heifers back in Septem- ber and we will ensure they are still bred just prior to the sale. The semen lots we are offering this year are some of the genetics we own and are currently using. One of the highlighted lots of the sale is the Berwald Wake Up 5150 semen. Never before, has there been any semen offered for sale. We did get a limited amount of semen on him this spring but between us and our partners we depleted the supply, and are in the process of collecting more, so this lot will sell as pending collection. He’s a bull we are really excited about and think he will have an impact on the Red Angus breed. The Confidence 3089 bull is another that has been doing great things at our ranch and we will continue to use in the years ahead. There have only been 40 units ever offered for sale on this guy so here is another chance to purchase some. Longcut 5095 was sold for half interest in our bull sale last February. Our partners used him for a few weeks this spring and he came here to clean up some of the heifers that are offered for sale. He’s a bull that has some cow power and proven genetics behind him and has the herd bull look as well. Once again, we are offering a sample of some up and coming stars here at Wasem Red Angus. We feel this set of donors are on their way to becoming some of the top cows at our ranch. Mated up with some of the industry’s top proven sires, the genetic possi- bilities in these mating is exciting.
New to the sale, are a couple groups of commercial bred heifers from some of our customers. A fancy set of home raised heifers from Ferebee Crops and Cattle that are all AI’d to WSM Commander 1055J for April 1 calving. All the work is done, and they will make a nice addition to any herd. The Murphy ranch has put together a set of heifers from area ranches that use our genetics. They will all be bull bred to low birth weight Wasem bulls. The heifers are in a 1 cycle calving group starting the first week of April. We encourage potential bidders to reach out to the respective owners if there are any questions regarding the heifers. We understand that drought conditions are in a widespread area and not all of us have enough feed to get through winter. So, we have decided to offer a winter-feed- ing option to the buyers of any animal in the sale. Please contact us if you are interested and we can discuss how we can be of service. We value your trust in our program and please reach out if there are any questions or would like to come have a look. Chris, Jolyn, Kacee and Braelyn
