Local Author Brings Stories and Smiles to Cedar Creek of Logansport
Residents, families, and children gathered at Cedar Creek of Logansport for a heartwarming morning of storytelling as local children's author DeeDee Scott hosted a reading and book signing for her bestselling book, The Little Glow Named Lumi. Scott, whose parents are residents at Cedar Creek of Logansport, shared the story's message of kindness, love, and hope before spending time with families coloring, solving puzzles, reading together, and signing books for attendees. By the end of the event, all 24 copies she brought had sold out. "Cedar Creek of Logansport was an angel for me as my family is blessed to have our parents there," Scott said. "Every time I walk into Cedar Creek, I see residents I grew up around. It means a lot that they brought me joy growing up, and now I'm able to bring a little light and love during this chapter of their lives." One of the event's most memorable moments came when Scott asked the children who should star in the next Lumi story. Their unanimous answer inspired her newest book, Lumi & SweetBoy's Sunflower Morning, which she plans to dedicate to the young readers who attended while featuring their artwork and photos in an upcoming issue of her Glow & Grow Magazine. Residents were especially excited to purchase signed copies for their grandchildren and great- grandchildren, with many already asking Scott to return this fall when her newest book is released in time for the holiday season. "Events like this create meaningful opportunities for residents, families, and children to connect through shared experiences," said Brya Wickersham, Director of Sales at Cedar Creek of Logansport. "Seeing generations come together through reading, creativity, and conversation made for a truly special morning."
