So many of our employees are caring for aging parents, so this service has been a great added benefit. These are low-cost alternatives to the high cost of turnover. “In the past two years, we said goodbye to three old and outdated machines. We replaced them with two mod- ern state-of-the-art Apstars (a flexo and a rotary die-cutter), which will be significant contributors to the company for many years. We have already seen tremendous increases in efficiency and quality with our new machines. I do not anticipate any major purchases for a couple of years but with technology constantly changing, I wouldn’t rule any- thing out. It is keep up or get out in the box business and I intend to stick around so I will have to keep up. “One of the biggest changes that we are seeing is the use of AI. It has only just started to affect our plant, but we are using it a great deal in the office. I am already finding tasks that AI can do for me in minutes that I used to spend hours working on to complete. Last week I wrote my an- nual Christmas bonus letter and in a few clicks it attached every employee’s name to the letter and inserted their bo- nus amount in the exact spot in a sentence I left a blank for it. We are just beginning to understand how powerful it can be and how much time, and eventually, work, it will save us. “The question remains, what will this do to the future of our workforce, especially low-skilled jobs? Will need as many people in Accounting, HR, Design or Customer Ser- vice? Can it do so many tasks we will need fewer people in our factories and fewer forklift drivers? Heck, will we even need a CEO? It’s awesome technology but also kind of scary. “In conclusion, I am so blessed to have such a dedicat- ed group of people to work with every day. I am excited to see what my team will be able to accomplish with new machines and new technologies. It will never be easy to be in the box business but, in the words of Jimmy Dugan in A League of Their Own, “It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard … is what makes it great.” WASATCH CONTAINER North Salt Lake, Utah: Lauren Frisch reports: “At Wasatch Container, our 2026 goal is to get lean and mean. As all costs continue to rise, we’re focused on eliminating
