SHOOSTY FINE ART

October 1, 2023 Dear Art Woodruff, Mayor, City of Sanford,

Virginia Poe, Chair, City of Sanford Art Commission, The Sanford Art Commission, and City of Sanford Staff,

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity you provided me to showcase my artwork, Shoosty Bugs , at Arts in Chamber within Sanford’s City Hall. It was a privilege to present to the committee and an even greater joy to be selected. It is often overlooked that Fine Arts are at the cutting edge of technology. While STEM fields may provide employment, it is STEAM that fosters lifelong engage - ment. One only needs to consider companies like Apple, Tesla, or Disney to ap- preciate the pivotal role arts play in shaping our futures. In an era where artificial intelligence can create art, it’s worth noting that all my work was handcrafted using an iPad Pro. My precision style uses a new software application based on vectors instead of pixels. Vectors are points defined by math resulting in detailed sharp lines and shapes that are infinitly scalable. This meth - od of working has only become feasible within the past few years after the Apple pencil came out and the software matured. My work represents a combination of art history, insects, one of the oldest materials on earth; silk, and state-of-the-art technology. I call the style Chromatic Fusionism - a blend of technology and humanity. Chro- matic relates to the science of printing and Fusion relates to the humanities. I be- lieve this term will gain traction over time from the seeds you’ve helped me plant. I extend my best wishes to you and your community and express my heartfelt thanks for allowing me to display my work. With sincere appreciation,

Stephen Shooster aka Shoosty
